Brilliant stuff Brad, and everyone at Stardock! I only wish you the best success with Elemental, and you certainly deserve the break too. Have a good rest and we'll all be right here. Cheers!

I take it you bought the game from a street retailer or something similar? The problem is the game isn't actually released until Tuesday, which means that impulse has locked the serial codes. I'm afraid its more than likely that your copy won't work until the game's official launch, or for the August 23rd beta and pre-order early play time. Sorry about that. :S
I think... that's why its called a strategy game [e digicons][/e] Yes it would be galling to be beaten 1vs1 just because your opponent got lucky. And vice versa if you're the one about to smash that piffling rival kingdom into tiny pieces with your brand new dragon it would ultimately amount to an empty victory, even while laughing your sadistic little head off. But I thoroughly applaud this sort of thing in a full on multiple player game. It stands to reason that
Well I posted this over the 'Please reconsider this aspect of MP' post, but no harm in reposting it here just for record's sake: Oh well. That pretty well explains what the day 0 release will entail. Having said that I'm still quietly optimistic about what the future may bring. As others have said I don't mind watching tactical battles, but if people don't want them then fine! As others have said I don't mind watching tactical battles, but if people don't want them then fine! Surely an option can be implemented that simply auto resolves each conflict as it occurs? However I also fully appreciate that Brad and all the good folk at Stardock are focussing on one hell of a Single Player experience, and that's fine
I honestly couldn't have put it better. Lovely reply there maxlongstreet! Exactly how I feel about it.
Quoting Twohawks, reply 15We need to keep in mind that the game was not intended at first to have MP.. Which, I think, is the right decision because the majority of people who play turn-based 4x strategy games play single player. You can't just take the single player experience and add multiplayer because that doesn't produce optimal gameplay (even though some people think this is what they want), and the last thing Stardock
I hope so, Windexglow, but as I understand it custom servers aren't going to be available at release, so no MP mods? I really wish the interviewer had followed up on the answer. I find this other Q&A troublesome as well: Out of the box, Elemental’s multiplayer will be essentially skirmish on fixed maps that have been pre-balanced (i.e. not randomly generated). Egads. I have R
Ditto to the above. I have several friends I'm eager to play this with, and whether its a cooperative Comp Bash or a somewhat more competitive affair I'd like the option to choose whether I want a more streamlined experience or the whole package. Choice is always extremely welcome!
