I agree with the OP. Magic should be countered by a Magic Resistance, not armor rating.

1> I would REALLY like to have a Formation Editor or some way to set the formation of my army prior to a battle. Tanks go up front and mages and archers go in the back. :) 2> Would also like a way to designate who the army leader is. You need your mage to be party leader so they can teleport the party.
My (in-game) daughter, Alyna, has a male "archer" as her small round portrait. Very annoying. I've saved the debug.err if it will help. Also, I can't seem to get Alyna to be the leader of her army. Very inconvenient as she can't teleport her party. http://filebin.ca/socvh/debugAlynaPortrait.err http://filebin.ca/adqdb/Picture0002
I have to say, the game is a lot more stable after the last patch! Good job guys!! I'm not sure what the last thing I did was. http://filebin.ca/dhztbs/debug04.zip
Has anyone figured out what the various variables in MapStyle do - as in how they affect the map generation? Below is my HugeWorld.xml. One continent doesn't seem to generate just one continent. I can't see much difference between Islands and Small Continents. DisplayName
Maniakos is correct. XML "describes data". That's all it does. XML can be used by other things like XSL or Python or even .net to provide scripts to process, but XML by itself is not a programming language. It is a document.
Thanks CC.
Bump for second crash
Screen went white. Then screen looked trashed. Had just finished exploring for a bit then reloaded previously saved game. Can be reached by email associated with this account. Part 2: A little while later. Crashes getting really annoying. http://filebin.ca/knxkfj
I can't seem to get the map editor to work. I select "Land Tool" and even increase the size of my cursor with the "+" key but when I click on the map, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Is it broken?
I can't seem to figure out how to place land or anything else. I select the Land Tool, choose "Land" and even increase cursor size with the "+" key but when I click on the map, nothing happens. Is it broken?
Try a larger world size. That's what I do.
I don't know if this will be a popular suggestion, but I'm of the opinion that Champions should be the general with which you control your armies. i.e. All battles without a Champion are "auto-resolved". You have to have a champion in the fight to control tactical battles. However, that would be a feature which takes away something from the player, and those features are never very popular.
<
I like the idea of being able to hire NPCs that boost your city abilities (i.e. +20% to food). But there needs to be true "Champions" who specialize in adventuring or combat. And, as such, they need to be able to fight pretty well. But, more than that, they need to add something to regular soldiers. Adding to morale of the army would be a good start. Also add leadership or other pluses. Lastly, while I understand channellers being rare, at least if you give
I'm sure the fanboys will be all over me, but these are my impressions/personal opinions about the game. Take them for what they're worth. 1> I have to say the crashes are getting annoying. I've set the Autosave to every turn just to be able to play the game. 2> Some of the UI stuff is not very intuitive. Took me a trip to this forum to find out how to build a farm. 3> I sure wish we got better, more obvious notification when s
Was just tooling along. Recently finished a battle. http://filebin.ca/dfgkmc/AutoSave.EleSav I updated drivers last night although even after the update, the date of my drivers for the SB Live 24-bit is still pretty old.
I can't figure out how to build a hut. When I select Hut on the build screen, it won't let me build it. Apparently, if I understand correctly, I need a food. How do I get a food?
Part of the problem is that once your about to win, your about to win. Theres something to be said for just calling it a victory and starting a new game...
Money quote.
I have two thoughts. 1> There should generally be a reason not to upgrade. In other words, older techs should still have some advantage over newer techs - if nothing but cost. Perhaps each technology continue to get an in-type upgrade that makes it continually get smaller/cheaper/more efficient to the point that it always remains usable. That's the one thing I always hated about Gal Civ. Once a new technology became available there was n
I liked the idea of the two off topic questions. I think it will be interesting to see what this slice of the gaming community thinks on the Health Care issue. I'm personally less interested in the question about faking gender but the results could be interesting. I see no harm in having the survey question.
My other though would be this. This board represents a small subset of the eventual players of the game. And, I dare say, the vast majority of these players would be willing to do a long beta. But how many of the REST of the players, not represented on this board, would be willing to do this?
I'd only be in favor of this if the game is in a playable condition. I don't generally get involved in beta testing (tried it, don't have the patience for it) so this would mean another year before I can play!!
