Already sent in the save file on this, but I thought I'd check to see if anyone else has experienced this. When playing as the Drath to try out the Super Manipulator ability I saw that I had lost the colony race, so I rushed for Planetary Invasion to jack some planets from my closest neighbors, the Korx. Before my ships were in position, and before I had declared war, the Altarians declared that they were "joining the war on my side." They didn't actually do anything after declaring war, and

I've experienced the first bug you mentioned exactly as you described it, and something very similar to the second bug as well. The first bug happens when an enemy planet is located within your sphere of influence when war is declared. The UP "Neutral Territory" event causes the ships on their planet to be transported outside of your territory so that they appear elsewhere on the map (because positioning your ships before a war is "cowardly"), but when you attack the planet they are st

Virtually all the problems the OP described are the result of the AI approaching trading from a very one-dimensional standpoint. At present, the AI only considers value when trading. This means that the only thing the AI has to go on when determining whether to make a trade is whether the deal is "fair", based on predetermined values and relative diplomacy. In order to avoid major strategic mistakes by the AI, Stardock jacked up the value of things like starbases, flagships, and military tech

I think this doesn't really address the problem of Human players taking the AI for a ride because their decisions are free, while those of the computer isn't. That solution, I believe, was more directed at the notion of balancing out the alignments to satisfy the restrictions on who can attack whom. As far as taking the A

Before the game begins you can choose to be a chaotic personality or a lawful personality. If you choose the former, you can do whatever you like regardless of diplomacy, you can declare wars at the drop of a hat, reject tech trades you don't like even though a computer AI in your position would , basically what galciv 2 is now . On the negative side, because th

From the point of view of computer AI, i can see why they shouldn't value diplomacy techs too highly, because after all I'm not going to give the AI a better deal just because it is 'majestic'. This is one of the three biggest asymmetries between a human player and an AI player: a human player can always click "Reject." The second big asy

This problem is definitely a bug, which I have encountered twice. I started a game as the Drath, adding diplomacy, research, and economic bonuses with the excess points. When I started the game, the Drath had, most notably, no espionage bonuses, which were the main reason I chose them in the first place. What's worse, I am now unable to correct the situation. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the game and deleting all saved games
