I posted a couple of fairly critical comments there, and since others were agreeing with me... one day later the whole thread is conveniently gone.
It's scummy as hell, isn't it? Nuking the truly embarrassing stuff and leaving the fake self-crucification crap that keeps your fanboi army alive and well, as evidenced by the swarm that descended on this thread ASAP. Just go play MoM already. Or better, spend your time making a mod that does all this. I own MoM. I play it when I want to play it. As a result, I don't need or want a word for word MoM clone. Things like making spell books much more expensive, more spells, and unique themes for each school are great. That will improve the game. But copying MoM instead of just being inspired by it? No.

My money's (literally, lol) on six months to a year for all those things.

If you have the slightest inkling that Elemental at release and Civilization 5 at release are even in the same stratosphere of quality, you're a blind fanboi. Or just have an incompetent editing team, ala 1UP.
Unless you're charging $30 for these, they're patches, not expansions. I still expect two free $30 expansions as an apology for this disaster of a game, the fact that I can't return it to you because I chose to buy from Amazon, and my general feeling of wasting $70.
For now, to wet my appetite, I'm wondering for you Master of Magic fans, do you think Elemental has the key aspects of the original MoM that made it such a classic?
No.
And what can be done with Elemental to make it more fun. Perhaps this will give developers some ideas about how to fine tune the game to capture the "magic formula" for a classic?
95% of the threads on these forums are suggestions. Read th
Make terrain matter: https://forums.elementalgame.com/397459
I've apparently done a poor job expressing what I meant. Territory doesn't seem to matter in this game. All influence seems to do is make the ground pretty and let you access special tiles. The terrain around cities doesn't seem to matter. I expected that the ground turning pretty meant that I'd get more gold, or food, or whatever. You know, getting rewarded for "rebuilding" the broken world. I expected that dropping a city
OK. Basing the entire economy of cities on special resource tiles makes these tiles less than special. When I read that, once again, yet another resource would be seeded next to every starting position (a shard this time), I started to wonder... as time goes on and the game continues to be uprooted and re-planted, will there will be any room left for a city in the starter clump of these "special" or "rare" tiles? One of the interesting things in the game is how th
That's generous for v1.0 (ie, what you get out of the box). For 1.08? I'd say Stardock has gotten things up in the 50s. The game's still bad, but that's good progress for a month's work.
I just feel pretty bad (not that anyone really cares ), but I just laid down my pre-order cash for Civ 5, based on the early reviews. I feel a little bad after being a GalCiv 2 fan, pre-ordering and enjoying Sins of a Solar Empire and really enjoying Demigod, despite all the flak. I was nearly there on purchasing Elemental but have decided to hold off for now. I will wait for a few more patches and for the pricepoint to lower a bit. I h
Not only do I get to experience most of the "normal" Elemental bugs and issues, but because my rig is slightly under the system reqs, I get to see some really weird graphical fireworks (already posted about it on the support forum) , and the game still could certainly use quite a bit of re-balancing, tweaking, and perhaps major changes to some systems to achieve its true potential. But with all that, I am already enjoying it more than many games that have
Elemental is a fantasy 4X. GalCiv 2 with wizards and swords. It is currently in what most (honest) software designers and developers would call an alpha. Not only is it a buggy mess, it's not feature complete. Stardock has stated that pretty much every single thing about this game is slated to be changed. Economy, Questing, Combat, Magic... everything. The good: They recognize their design sucks and a

Cool story bro
[e digicons]k1[/e] Elemental is so fundamentally broken and poorly designed that I don't think it's possible to save it. Good feedback will be drown out by all the retarded 4000 word posts including nine google spreadsheets explaining how 20 different types of arrows for five different types of bows is the best design decision evar. Not like that even matters, because feedback will be ignored like it was in beta. As Brad himself has admitted,
Here's an idea for A, B, and C: Make a suggestions box that lets people anonymously send ideas in. That right there will stop 90% of these retarded posts that read like spreadsheets because without an audience and the resulting +Karma circlejerk, most people would't care enough to offer ideas. An anonymous box also lets you hear feedback without having to go through the automatic, totally human process of "he's a jackass, I don't care what he thinks" or "h

No bro, we can't wait. Civ5 next week is likely to decimate (most likely literally, as in reduce to 1/10th), the general Elemental community. Patches need to be consistently cranking out in order to keep Elemental relevant.
OK, I didn't realize you wanted real-time Total War combat, RavenX. I though you just wanted a bigger tac combat field and cooler animations. I don't want Elemental: Total War of Magic. It seems that most of us don't want that. You idea is idiotic, and I'm pretty offended that you had the gall to speak for the "Official Player Community." It makes you sound arrogant and pretentious.
