Well, i'm not here to question SD designers choices, but it sure is somehow more difficult to distinguish between too many shades of greys. My point was that the human player can alter these figures permanently and save them as often as s/he pleases. Lucky you, i was just about ready to design a special scenario for X-Worlds where ALL aliens had a swift cyan type on the map against the single lonely tiny lavenderishlike of X-Com. Thus, you couldn't be able to tell them apart f

Haaaaaa.... key info if there is ever one. The human player (1) + A maximum of 9 Major opponents pulled off a strict list of 12 in total (9) + another maximum of 8 Minor races (8). Lemme get the pocket calculator; i do have a final complex result of only 18 (with the remaining three Majors stuck in the twilight of absence). So it means, i can still find some room on the raceconfig.xml for an extra 18 (Potentially recorded and pre-defined with their own IDs like #27 and up).

I'd sure enjoy more recent versions (of anything), but can't afford it. But, it's okay. 7) The 8B's showed up as an entire sparkling whites blank... so i figured 24b was an essential format & had to switch right back to the bigger files. Again, i don't mind. But, since there are 42 races (so far!) & 8~12 Mino

The only "way" to enforce use of all & each of your customs rather than any of the regular defaults (0-TA all the way through 11-KR) is to re-write a brand new raceconfig.xml (which MUST be used and called from a MOD folder) with your races' data in place of the previous ones while complying with numerical order, etc. Mind you, this "process" takes extensive editing to the format and requires properly devised locations (GFX folder, etc) for the necessary assets. Which is possib

I hope it is a near "unlimited" value since that much variety can enhance gameplay in great leeways! Weak & Strong can be fun to watch when truly unknown from the start. X-Worlds even has a GOD race (yup, THE god!) -- as you can imagine, that one will certainly get a lot (if not all!) of high numbers in most key-abilities. If the Carinoids (...etc) can run away with a 100% bonus economy, what should GOD get? 500% or less?? Would GOD use weapons, do some research, have some basic HitPoin
Political Parties can be added easily. Just edit the PoliticalParties.xml
May i? I took the liberty to insert 10 of those in X-Worlds. Lemme tell you, they aren't anywhere near what the defaults use. If the Universalists can use FOUR different abilities, so could mines. And beyond! - Zyxpsilon.

Follow-up to the reply... 1) Ahhhh... exactly what i needed to hear, mind you the Aquatoid race WILL now officially receive it's fair share of Aquatic planets nearby and/or restricted. Which reminds me of Toxic access to other(s) :)! 2) I'll wait. At first though i thought my GCard was the culprit since ship Textures aren't available with it. By extension, i figured the 32x32 mapping failed to stick as drawn or wouldn't develop as expected. Still, it could be visually st

Kay, whaz'up! Drooling here, cranked up to the brink of snapping-out a whole set of brain cells, salivating at the prospect that i might (just maybe) save enough cash during the next five to ten weeks to actually do two important things; 1) Find me a better Graphic/Card to finally activate ship textures and provide a much smoother ride at DA itself. All the while still developping the X-Worlds & CoSH mods and being bent on adapting both for number 2 below. 2) Bu

I'm presently trying to complete the X-Worlds' set of planets for every some 40+ races and i do have a few more comments/questions to share before i step further more into the entire design shema(s). 1) Is there any way to integrate any of the five "extremes" (Barren, Toxic, etc) INTO a race's system? 2) Although i found it somehow odd, it boggles me to be restricted with the Rings "formatting" and appearances. The 32x32 files seem to take the first row of pixels only. A

Awesome... Just sitting up there in the clouds of heaven along with FULL-scale products from others must be another proof this game is raising the industry standards. Even if we are biased towards it - i seriously doubt previous expansions from anybody has ever achieved what SD just pulled off with DA. (* well, maybe only Warcraft-Two) - Zyxpsilon.

Holy cow... you've got some of that kinky pattern of tactics at times also? Nothing i enjoy more than to lure any AIs into humanly emotions & overly complex (abstract too) logic. Just to see how well they react or adapt. I can say, surprisingly so, that most circumstances i could devise were all pretty much hilarious and allowed a terrific amount of diverse reactions or counter-measures by (as it may have seem then) confused enemies. Example; Setting a boobie trap with a few we

Well, you can always change these colors all by yourself right from the setup screens! Fact is, i already DID a lot of corrections to these defaults (while maintaining some backups just in case - melancholy mood hits the mindset!) to customize everything into my favorite (or more comfortable) "environment". Which is to say, thanks to SD for planning ahead with the players concerns and giving huge control over many features; including personal choices for races colors & what else. ;)<br/

Influence ratios based on number of still standing opponents and on galaxy size while continually updating it to maintain THE edge towards "instantaneous" victory without having to go through too many conquering steps (read: fleets after fleets, invasions, slowly grinding my way to eliminate any superior majors threats if any... etc). This in fact is a quick workaround when i find that "most" aspects are already covered and i'm in such a situation that all it would take is a number of w

Yes, that'd do it. I was thinking more about "semi-transparent" or slightly snugged to hover in space in an odd fashion. Thing is, these space bodies - they spin and when "partial images" get to the dark side of the moon, so to speak, the illusion begins to fade or may seem flawed. Take the TB5 pseudo-moon in X-Worlds as an example; This is exactly where my creative urge went wacky. I needed the vehicle around Earth at the cost of losing the real moon itself. So be it, i said... after all th

Yup, i can attest to this also. I ALWAYS trust any anti-virus processing to be reliable enough to warn me about corrupted files. What if they are wrong? I only lose the wanted tiny file. What if they're right and i don't react as suggested? I'd be stuck with the stupid Trojan and would have to endure its presence for months on end without my better knowledge. The lesson to learn about any AV programs is that they are WORKING for the users and are intended to protect a PC from m

What does anyone think about the latest rumor -- Blizzard/Activision together, at last; [link="http://www.aionsource.com/forum/arcade/3272-ea-buy-ncsoft-2.html"]WWW Link[/link] Does this sound like a full round of acquisition(s) in the gaming industry is about to start, or will the newest entity become strong enough to take a stab at EA & other gigantic conglomerates (incl - Sony's alliances or MS-XBox developpers, independant houses, etc.)? Any opinions?
The Drath, as a playable civilization, won't be in GalCiv III for the reasons you stated...
Hey, no way - take the Drath out and you've turned GC3 into a different game altogether! ;) Seriously though. For storyline purpose, i understand the variations in Major races ID or level of complexity within their unique variables. But for balancing reasons, i also have an issue to bring forward; tagging a new one with a different name and slightly altered features doesn'

Kay, this may sound tricky to some... but the above "flaw" is exactly the kinda thing i'm working on for the CoSH mod; one of the races is the Fantastic Four and, as some of you may know, there's a charater named the Invisible woman! Well, if i can figure a workaround format for her planet.png file... she will have an almost INVISIBLE planet under her feet as homeworld too. Along with a Rocky one and a flaming hell & a polymorphic sphere -- to symbolize each planets of the system

I'll sign to that. Just after, i'm all through with modding the complete and final versions of X-Worlds & CoSH! ;) It should take me what... a few months or less? What i found interesting though about working on customized Races is the fact that the process in itself is a steep but efficient learning curve about most gameplay features. Thus, the design stages are forcing me into a gaming mode which i wouldn't otherwise get simply by going for a 'standard' setting - indirectly.<

Thanks, Kryo... for the approval of the "current" version of X-Worlds. Although, i already have plenty more to add to the zip - but, i will wait until this Sunday to wrap it all up in a more complete upgrade. Btw, the last Major race is; S.H.A.D.O from the 80's TV-show with Ed Stryker & gang, SkyNet (no relation with the Terminator series at all), sweet single-shot Interceptors, SDI and a Moon base (guess where their 'indirect' Homeplanet is) aiming to contain a full scale UFO-

Darn... see, this IS the kind of information i wish we could access straight from gameplay. Miscellaneous conditions and special "features" aren't obvious in some places. So, that's exactly why i couldn't offer or ask for another Research treaty with many or all & each Minors along with a key-Major attempt. ;) Mind you, i'm still at some early stage of grasping the whole scope of things as i may discover hints or clues about plenty more yet. - Zyxpsilon.

Bump! So, i've been working hard at X-Worlds for about three weeks now and i feel the currently uploaded version 05-B is reasonably "complete" enough to suggest some approval(s) by whoever is in charge - soon (or faster), please.?.!. ;) I may have to start a more regular pace of modifications/upgades... case in point, possibly a weekly update should be okay -- say, somethin' like every Sunday evenings or on Mondays the latest.
