GoodMorphing, (off topic, I know) Howzit...I lived on the 'rock' (oahu) for 6 years (Kaneohe and Kailua)...Went to Castle High School and eventually graduated from Kailua High in '81. Where do you live? (Island/town).
werewolf: was it a Kaypro?
Mig: Yup...I still have it and play it from time to time. Do you think the copyright is still enforced? Frogboy: What are the IP considerations for products that are no longer being used/marketed? In other words...would it still (after 20 years) be illegal for me to send Mig (for example) a copy of a game that was written for the C64? Just wondering. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gi
Mig: I seem to recall one of his non-fictional works (about a cross country trip he made) where he compares American Indians to 'coyotes' in a very non-flattering way. I think I gave up on him after reading several chapters of the book. Chris: No, that's not it...I read the book in the early 80's and it was old by then. I do appreciate your help, though....Thanks <A HREF="https://www.wi
Asimov Poul Anderson Roger Zelany Ursula K Leguin - (a pen name, iirc) Frederick Pohl and many others I liked a few of Twians 'Tom Saywer/Huck Finn' books, but found his other works VERY bigotted. I'm looking for a Sci-Fi book I read many years ago. I don't remember the title or the author. It was a post apocolyptic tale that centered on a man and his bear friend (the bear could talk - genetic mutations due to fallout). Does this sound familiar to anyone?
I just could never get used to the single mouse button after using a 2 or 3 button PC mouse.
Oh dude, Archon...I remember that...it was a great game!! I loved the C64 version of Zaxxon too. I still have a bunch of old printers too....A tandy daisy wheel (150 chars per minute) and a Star Micronics are among the oldest still working (not that I use them anymore)
My condolences as well, Brad.
Yeah....beat it!
I still have every computer I have ever owned....they are: VIC-20 - Great first computer C-64 - Unending hours typing in code listings from Compute magazine...anyone remember that one? Tandy Color Computer(coco) - 16K RAM, single (external - metal case) 160K 5.25 floppy Tandy 1000 - 64K RAM, dual internal 320K floppies and a 300baud modem....impressive, huh? Tandy Laptop - 640K RAM, dual internal 3.5 floppies...never thought thosse would last....go figure Tandy 3000
I had a similar problem recently. I was using the DesktopX reduced desktop feature and SkinBrowser would crash every time I launched it. It apparently was trying to position itself outside the defined desktop on startup. To correct the problem I disabled the reduced desktop, launched SkinVrowser (which did not crash), positioned the SkinBrowser window so that it would fit into the reduced desktop area, closed SkinBrowser, reenabled the reduced desktop and relaunched SkinBrowser. I have had n
Boxxi, wasn't that series by Phillipe Jose Farmer? I remember reading that many years ago...great series!
Boxxi, lots of 'different' catregories there....kindof surprised I didn't see women mentioned in your list, though
I know what you mean Wise, my FORTRAN word processor was written on punch cards. The school I went to catered a lot to the military (I wasn't in the armed services) and even had paper tape machines for input. Those were the days.....programmers wore white lab coats and were revered...not any more....thanks Microsoft!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered by
Wise & Faramir.... I once had to write a word processor in FORTRAN (college assignment - sadistic professor)...what a nightmare!!!! I also used COBOL for a while -- gave it up when PC's arrived. Do you guys remember any of the lesser known languages? - like SNOBOL, ALGOL, LISP, forth, etc...
Jafo: HAHAHAHAHAHA....good one!!!!
I like discussing technology (and how it will evolve...like nanotechnology, quantum computers, etc... )in general. Astrophysics also interests me a great deal. I'm not much into politics (I think most, if not all, politicians are liars - although they may not start out that way) so I tend not to get into political discussions. I do like discussing history, however. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/s
Hey Doreen (that's my sister's name too)... Have you checked out GTRipple? http://www.pnc.com.au/~garethth/ I just downloaded it but haven't tried it yet....the screenshots look interesting, though Stefan
I find it's still easy to tell them apart....the one that makes sense is our Jafo and the one that sounds like a blithering idiot isn't. See....simple
I still see it....7th down on the new additions list....it does look like adni describes....off with its head!!
I personally hate the Ads!. Not only do they make me NOT want to switch, they give me the urge to find the actors (supposedly, real people) and remove them from the gene pool . I had the task of setting up a new iMac a couple of years ago for my sister, and let me tell you - THEY DO CRASH!(maybe less with OS-X now). Not a fun experience. In short, I think the ads suck.
