Am i the only one to think that if people choose custom factions over premade ones, it's because the premades ones aren't appealing enough ? Maybe it would be better to work on improving the premade factions so that people choose them thinking "wow, a slave master draconian blood spitting faction, how cool !" ? In Gal Civ 2 i loved to play the pre made factions/races, because, well, destroying the galaxy with your drengin psychotic furred enslaving fleet was just... fun. In Elemental,

Great list, i hope the game will live to all those expectations, and i dont doubt it. I have a question on the available playable races at game launch, because i didnt quite understand point 10. Are you saying that there will only be two races/factions at launch, and that you count on players to add some more by modding means ? Or will there be more than two at game launch ? Or only two races, with multiple factions? Cause i mean, okay, the idea of a strategic fan
As said before, the game is called Elemental. You ve GOT to have different elemental types of damage and resistance. Why not use the good old fire / ice / air / water / earth / death ? What would be great would be to make the different types of damage interact with the physical part of your army, for example, fire would be more efficient against leather armors ; or you could enchant a unit's weapon with ice ; this would allow a deep customization of your armies and very int
Well, yeah, i noticed by playing the beta, thank you. It doesnt mean it will always stay like that...
"First, let me say that the sovereign dying is a non-negotiable thing to us." First of all, where do you all read, in that sentence, that sovereign death = game over? Brad just says that sovereigns will die, and not flee, be teleported or whatever. He does not mention that it will be "game over" at all. That said, a little fun idea (just an idea, maybe totally unbalanced or "undoable") : At the end of a battle involving a losing sovereign, the winner can
On Sovereign handling : Escaping when defending, and not when attacking, will eventually lead to a game that is not balanced. I like the "heir solution" mentioned before. Your sovereign dies, his son/daughter/mutant weirdo baby takes over, with no experience. Or, maybe you can use a system a la Dominions 3 : 1 - Your sovereign should always be necessary, be it for research reasons, resource reasons
Not going to add to the other (very good) ideas in this thread ; i'd go with option C, but this is not what worries me the most in all this discussion. Please, no matter which option you choose, do NOT force the player to customize his units again and again. In Gal Civ2, when technology began to progress faster and faster, every 5 turns you had to modify your current design, to fit it with the most modern weapons, and i really hated that. I ended up opening the ship design tab, a
I really like the idea of a feather shaped mouse cursor (is that it?), but i find it very difficult to click where i want to. I know you can choose to use a hardware cursor but i think it's great to have a customized one, especially in a game as immersive as this one.
At the start of the game, my situation seems pretty... blocked : http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/3921/blockedstart.jpg => to see the big picture.
I get this bug too, but only when i click "end turn". Units and buildings briefly appear.
