I usually build three trade starbases around a central planet (that I route all my trade through). Once they are pumped up, they were allowing me to operate at 100% industrial spending, 70% approval, and 850 bc profit a turn. It was a pain to build them up, but the money was certainly nice.

I usually just speed click trough stuff at eh begining. Only when ship are built (and the blue indicater pops up) or war starts do I really slow down. Later in game things go a little slower, usually since there is more diplomacy and fighting going on.

Try going into a store, eating a loaf of bread, then telling them you were only making sure you liked the whole loaf, since you had some bread before that had disapointed you as a whole. Software/music stealing is the same thing. The whole try before you by idea is just an excuse people use to try and make themselves fell better about thier theft. I'm glad you decided to buy it, it's much better then to continue stealing it. But

I had a three way alliance going (Myself custom, Humans, and Altarins) vs. the Arceans and Drenjin. We proberbly would have won (I was averaging 11-1 kill rates... not bad if I do say so), but he culture snowball kicked in, and suddenly the Arcean culture was causing rebellions in planets two sectors away from thier nearest base. It was kinda hard to fight that, my empire was smart, but not big (huge gal, tight clus, few stars), and so i couldn't hold anything I took from them (would be in re

I've had a few was where my offense fizzeled out, not because of tech, money, etc, but becuase I can't produce enough troops to invade the planets without crtically depopulating my planets (accidentlyhad a couple planets go to "0" once. Making bigger transports helps with the logistical aspect, but usually after four or five planets being taken, I'm hurting for soldiers. I think it actually works well though, since your not just cranking out infinate

I had them show up late game with a fleet of 14 ships, consisting of battle ships, cruisers, and fighters. It was good fun to see that battle (against four or five of my huge hulled dreadnaughts).

Mine did that once, i ust made sure to use all the ships moves I had left (by either moving or hitting "guard"), when the blue light poped on to signal all ships having moved it brought back the button.

I prefer the miniturization, once I've gotten to medium hulls. That way,you have a good sized ship, but you can upgrade it as things get smaller. I had some medium hulls that I kept upgrading so that by the time I finished they had about 130 hp each (much more then a large hull starting out), but with smaller compnents they also kept up the firepower escalation.
