What is the orbital refinery for? How can I get metal or crystal factories to mine them at a faster rate? (is it to do with orbital refinery) i lost a planet to attack and the rest of my planets very quickly went down to allegiance 0 and i lost the game. did i need a broadcast centre to stop this?

I consider myself a good strategy gamer and I know games like this can be daunting and difficult, but what am I doing wrong? I started alarge map, FFA, chose TEC, and got but owned in like hour by capital ships and all manner of uber butt owning ships within that time, and not only was it enough for one of them to butt own me, but they ALL ganged up and butt owned me.... they all made treaties or something? Hi everyone, I am a total newbie, or at least 99 percent, I've heard of Gal Civ but never played it. I first saw this latest game when it was in alpha stages... then a year later now its ready, I'm glad I was busy during that year. I've read every dev blog posted by the developer about it, and these in depth dev blogs coupled with numerous illustrating screenshots throughout have convinced me to buy this game.
