I tried to purchase the half-price upgrade, but couldn't - I got a message saying I had to own an earlier version. What's off is I have the 2012 version sitting in my Steam library. I thought perhaps I had to register it here first, but couldn't even find a registration number. Suggestions?

I did report it. One of the survey ships was in it's range and heading back to the wormhole but still unresponsive. Both were on autosruvey, so that may be the problem.

After a survey ship has discovered a wormhole you can no longer issue movement orders. I have two survey ships going to the same wormhole and returning to it in a constant loop. The only way to stop it seems to be by issuing an order to guard.

I'm enjoying it despite the fact that I prefer playing a diplomatic game. I was going to hold off until October for that reason, but I'm weak. Anyway, I view the next couple of months as an opportunity to learn the new systems and take a practice run at them before attempting play for keeps.

Loving most of the changes form II so far, but I have several questions: 1) Planets seem to be either habitable or unhabitable. I've come across Gas Giants, but what about Volcanic, Icy, etc. worlds? Will they be in the final build? 2)Is there any benefit to mining a strategic resource with no colonies nearby? How far away can a mine be and still be considered effective? 3) I haven't seen any of the

This may have already been asked and answered, but will it be compatible with saved games? Just wondering if it's worth continuing with the game I started last night.

I preordered to get into the beta, but don't remember if I ordered the physical copy or not. How can I go back to check my order? I don't see any way to do it without ordering again.

I am guessing this is a design decision and not a bug, but does EVERY uninhabited planet have to have a pirate fleet guarding it? (This is based on about a dozen restarts since last night, so I may be unlucky). It's gotten to the point that I feel I'm better off exploring with a capital ship than a scout. It would be nice if there were more that couldn't be colonized without the proper tech, or just not colonizable at all. I'm also finding it impossible to create fleets, but f

Just downloaded this last night and have fire up a couple of test games. I'm just now starting to get a feel for the interface/research tree/etc. It seems like every unexplored system has a pirate fleet that wipes the floor with me. I tried starting a new game with "Marauders Off", and ran into the same situation. Are marauders the same as pirates, and if not, what's the difference? The capitol ship at the beginning starts at level 3, but until you research more there are o

OK -I'm 99% ready to jump off the fence and get this today. Just 2 more questions: 1) Can you issue orders while paused? (I'm basically a turn-based player) 2) How extensive is the manual that comes with the beta? Thanks for your time, btw.

Processor and RAM are fine. It's my Radeon 9550 (256 Mb) I'm concerned with. Are you trying to say that I am wrong to worry, or that I should know that the card won't cut it

Since you aren't ready to announce hardware requirements as yet, what happens if I pre-order, download the beta, and find my system can't handle it?

Having several hours invested in my first real game, I have come across a couple of areas that are, shall we say, less than stellar. First of all, research/trade A.I. seems to be extremely lacking. Having explored the entire map, and not finding a single Aquatic or Heavy Gravity planet, it amazes me that the A.I. not only chose to research those techs, but consider them a valuable commodity for trading. Once I got them from the one minor race in the game via trade, I've been able to pa

I just started my first DA game and Yikes! - every habitable planet I've found requires researching something from the colonization branch. Given how expensive those techs seem to be in the early game I have two questions - 1) Am I better off continung to explore with my colony ships hoping to find someplace I can colonize immediately, getting back to the aquatic/barren/etc. planets later and hope they are still available, or park my colony ships there now and start researching, resear

A couple of things the new manual does not make clear: How do you use spies to steal tech or stabilize a planet? I can see how to place a spy on top of an improvement to sabotage it, but that's about it. How exactly does asteroid mining work?

Does the A.I. only get military victories? In my current game (normal, medium galaxy, ), everyone but me surrendered to the Torians, and they now control 82% through influence. Shouldn't the game be over? Edited to add that we are not at war, so that isn't the answer.

What's the difference between surrender and a peace treaty? I started a one-on-one game as the Drengins against the Terrans on a tiny map/simple difficulty. I thought it would be a quick and dirty way to learn the basics of combat. Anyway, after capturing 2 of their 5 colonies, they came to me with an offer of surrender. I accepted, thinking that would give me the win. Instead, it gave them an opportunity to build up their defenses, and my v
