Thanks for the guide. A quick question. I'm playing as Tarth; suddenly, one of my cities changes its name and its color from blue to yellow (for Gilden). If I move one of the garrison out one square, the name and color revert to what they were originally. What's going on here? It's really annoying to have to check each city every turn to make sure it's still mine.

Thanks a lot for continuing to try to make a great game even better. Thanks too for continuing to keep us informed about what's going on. I haven't been playing the beta (having too much fun trying to beat the ai on the higher difficulty levels in the original version), so forgive me if this has already been addressed, but would it be possible to modify rally points so that one type of ship, constructors say, could use one rally point and other types

I'm having the same problem with single ships refusing to fleet up, but in my case the problem remains after either a new save or a reboot. Again, there's no logistics reason for this. So far the problem is affecting only medium hull ships, but I haven't gotten to large hulls yet.

I've also had this problem but only on a gigantic universe setting and only towards the beginning of the game. My problem usuallly occurred as I was trying to save.

Many thanks for being so responsive. Any chance of making it possible to access the Galactopedia in game like the Civilopedia in the Civ series? And how about making it possible in game to get rid of ship designs forever ? In any case, I'm looking forward to the update.

Has anyone won a tech victory yet? I'm going to try it with a custom race, but I wondered whether anyone has been successful with one of the standard races and what strategies they used (beyond obvious ones like building lots of research facilities).

I agree that a popup would be a really useful addition. As things stand now, you pretty much have th check the treaties screen in foreign relations to see which of the other civs are at war with each other.

Thanks for all the replies. For me, the advantage of colony ships over transports is that you have colony ships from the beginning and don't get transports until you're fairly well into the game.

Can you use colony ships to transfer population from one inhabited planet to another? If so, this would be a great way to relieve population pressure on an overcrowded planet and, at the same time, build up the population of a new colony.

As lots of people have pointed out, the developers' support for this game has been wonderful and could serve as a model for how gamers would like all game designers to interact with them. Bug fixes have been prompt, new game material has been added at an astonishing rate, and responses to questions or complaints on the forums have been almost immediate, not to mention the absence of copy protection software which, at least in my experience, messes up the legitimate purchaser a lot more than it

Thanks for the really useful guide. I've only played a small map so far. On a large map, would you send out colony ships without a specific destination, or would you find suitable planets for colonization first with scout ships? If you do the first, you run the risk of having your colony ship wander around aimlessly for quite a while before it finds a colonizable planet. If you do the second, it's going to take a lot of turns before you get to colonize by which time one of the ai's may have b
