We have released a new build of Impulse to take care of this update issue. If you have any more problems once you have updated to the latest Impulse, please let us know. Once you open Impulse, it should prompt you for the update. If you have any issues getting the update, you can always get the latest public release from http://impulsedriven.com/download

To be clear, the work around for the 1.9 GB (full game size) download is to remove or rename the elemental.xml as described in post #120 (https://forums.elementalgame.com/401836/get;2864652) MattSan, The verify install functionality is for worse case scenarios where there could possibly be a problem with the install. When you use this function, if Impulse finds that the application does not appear to be installed correctly, Impulse will put the game in to a state t

DariasDruss, The Impulse.exe that is in the zip file you should have downloaded here http://sd.stardock.com/impulse/Impulse%20Files.zip should have today's date (1/10/2011). It sounds as though either Impulse updated after you copied in the files or possibly the files were not copied to the correct location for the test. As for elemental.xml, it would be

puntarenus or anyone willing to give it a try, Could you try the following: - Assuming you are still on Windows 7 x64, navigate to the folder C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Impulse\InstalledXML. (we are looking for a file in InstalledXML, so if this folder is not here, find the folder on your system) - Here you should see a file name elemental.xml. Rename this file to elemental.xml_ - Delete the elemental UpdateSizes value here HKEY_CUR

DariasDruss, It is odd that you aren't seeing any output in your error log about sizes (similar to how puntarenas has shown). If you go to where you have Impulse installed (most likely here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Impulse) what is the Created date of the file Impulse.exe? puntarenas, I have sent you an email requesting more information. If you can assist further, that would be great.

For those still having a problem. We have created a new build of Impulse that you will need to download and copy in to place that will help us find out why it is forcing a large download on your systems. If you don't mind helping us out, here is what we would like you to do: 1) Download the zipped up Impulse files here: http://sd.stardock.com/impulse/Impulse%20Files.zip 2) Copy these files in to place where Impulse is installed. By default on Win 7 64-bi

As we're still looking in to things, can someone try to Reset the Impulse data. Here is how you do it: - Delete the UpdateSizes registry key for Elemental as described earlier in this thread - Go in to Preferences - On the General tab, click the 'Reset Data' button. - Impulse will go through a simulated self update - Let Impulse calculate the download size of the Elemental update. If you click on the Updates tab in Impulse and are vie

Just gathering some more information to try to track down the issue... Can someone who is having the 1.9GB update problem hold down the Shift key and right click on Elemental in Impulse and select 'Verify Installation'? After some calculating, you should get a prompt that says "Elemental: War of Magic is installed correctly."

Deathtongue, Not a problem. We appreciate your help. We will continue to look at elements on our end to try and track down possible issues here.

Deathtongue, Being able to download Gratuitous Space battles as either an initial install or as an update versus the same with Elemental is not a valid comparison as one has roughly a thousand files and the other has more than 10 thousand files. This causes the update to be much more memory intensive, and thus the request to check system memory.

The 'Updated: 8/22/2010' indicated at the bottom of Impulse is the date that we published the latest version of the game or application (not when you installed). If you hover over the 'Version: v1.00' in Impulse it should give you more information on the minor revision. The currently released version of Elemental is v1.00.010; what does the tool tip say for you? If Impulse thinks that it has v1.00.010 installed, this is why you would not see an update. If yo
