I think it's fine as long as it isn't pathetically easy to just toss together a huge army and steamroll to the enemy wizard and focus fire him, thus ending the game. One of my biggest pet peeves with Age of Wonders was how your supposedly god-like wizard could be taken out by a couple of midget leprechauns in as little as two turns or by a single dragon attack. It made the best strategy rushing the enemy wizard all the time, everytime. Even stationing several stacks o

As long as they don't give you viable ingame bonuses like the achievements for Mass Effect on Xbox360 do. Otherwise I see great potential for whoever writes the excellent unintentional comedy bits at Stardock. The miniturization tech description talking about lawsuits on galciv2 had me laughing for several minutes straight. The Munchies: You've defeated an entire army with a single otherwordly creature.

The only games I could possibly see a justification for pirating are for games that use that russian made DRM that literally kills your hardware. No game is worth replacing a dvd/cd drive for.

I just recently started playing the full version of the game (I pre-ordered it and played the betas, but college exams delayed me playing the full release for a while). I've been playing single player quite a bit, and have noted a few things that I think could/should be improved in regards to the AI and other things. First off, it seems like if you dont pander to at least a few of the AIs - ALL of them will gang up on you. I had this happen in a game on the Gateway map with 5 AIs (another i

Sounds like the opposite of what I do. I'm a sore loser, so as soon as things are going really bad for me (It's obvious im going to lose) I start fortifying my systems and pulling my fleet back. You have to earn my territory >:D

I won't say anything about the AI because I know it's still being worked on. But one thing is bugging me really really bad. Why are the Vasari so... weak? The description has them advertised as having a 9000 year headstart on the TEC in terms of technology, so I was thinking every vasari ship would be worth AT LEAST 3 TEC ships (and of course hideously more expensive and time-consuming to produce). I know the TEC has been in the fight for a while, but the idea that they nearly equal the Vasa

After reading the 8 pages of comments, I have a few things to say regarding what other people have posted (double post I know, sorry =[). People have labeled the pirates as being able to wipe out their fleets, what exactly are you doing wrong? I can take 40 pirate ships out with defenses alone, I don't even NEED a support fleet. I've seen people mentioning that LRMs are too weak, and they die too easily. I'm afraid I have to disagree. The majority of my fleets are composed o

I only have a few problems with beta 2, the first and foremost of which is - 1) Pirates. What the heck is up with these guys? They went from ignorable wimps to psycho rampaging badasses in one beta. I'm playing on medium and I'm having a WAY harder time dealing with the pirates then the two ais teamed up against me. They constantly hit my systems with fleets of over 40 ships (I'm guessing this is because my bounty is over 70,000? but it's still ridiculous). Though my defense netw

I'm all for terror stars, I love the idea of moon-sized starships that can destroy planets. Of course, like with all games, there is the whole 'balancing' issue that completely destroys my fun. Here is what I propose in terms of Terror Star construction and balancing. 1) Must control at least one military resource per terror star (up to a max of five). 2) Terror stars require massive resources to build, given their size and what not (they're as big as a small moon for pete's sa

I've seen plenty of star trek (bleh) and babylon 5 (meh) mods in the work, but I have yet to see anyone working on a stargate mod of any sort, or even any ships from the series itself. Does anyone know of a mod (or one in the works) or am I correct in assuming there are none?

I recently went down the mass driver tree and found that as well. Despite it's disgusting cost, I was making about 200bc a turn so I could afford multiple fleets with ships carrying those babies. Talk about war winners. I would have won even if I hadn't found those two precursor rangers edit: and yea, it's there even if you arent creative.

Exterminate. Provided I get around to the technologies to do that. Seems the only real way to expand as the game quickly devolves into a war. Someone is always going to want to throw a punch. As with every 4x game, expansion leads to war. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=cente

I had an issue with this as well. I got 3-6 techs and right after I got them, the little robot told me "Due to the UP ruling blah blah blah techs must be shared, unfortunately since we're so far advanced we didn't get any, but the other races cleaned up, yippi." Yet I got 3-6 techs. Odd. Edit: I was playing a 1vs1 on a tiny map.

So, there will only be multiplayer if there is excessive demand for it yes? Well I'm demanding it. The only two multiplayer features I would really care for would be tcp/ip and hotseat. I'm dieing to play this with my cousin (we still play heroes 3 via tcp/ip to this day)!
