I need some help. I'm thinking about watching one of these series. DS9 I have already seen, was very enjoyable. B5 I once saw a few episodes and I'm interested in. Which one do you like best and more importantly, why?

I agree with most of your points, although I still have challenges with the AI so far. I dont like the ship designing by the automation at the moment. But I also dont like to design them myself, so I guess I have to live with it, or the developers may improve it in a future patch. This weekend they will be releasing a new update. Despite some issues, I'm having epic games with many empires waging wars and betraying each other. Very fun to play. Steals a lot of my

I agree, this is an AAR and suggestion post in one. I like the way your game went, but I can see it was frustrating. I have a similar problem now in which many races start to get jealous on me. However, my power difference is not as big as yours with the other empires. Indeed a good suggestion to improve relations early on in the game. I also have some performance issues. But playing on a "smaller" map (not 500 stars and 5000 planets/moons) helps ;). I've read somewhere that this game plays b

Lol. Good to see that people still play this game and think about strategy! I'm currently playing a new game distant words, also a 4x space game. But at some point I will play GC2 again!

Waiting for Reviews on Distant World, Cause if its good im getting it! You should really get it. It is a fantastic game. The support is also stardock like, with patches in the weekend after the release. It is not so much rts as you might think from the game's website. It is much more like EU3, but then without the complexity. The game automation is great (although there are some issues with fleets, but I believe they will be fixed soon). It also gives you

Distant Words (although with some minor issues), which is a pretty interesting and innovative game. The game MOO3 had to be ;). Take a look at the movies and the forums.

I think we're drifting away from the topic ;). Apologies for some of the errors I made. Some of the games I mentioned I didnt play (or only a demo or saw some videos). However, my preference are not changed.

Galciv2 has open space (as has the new 4x space game Distant Worlds), while other games such as Sword of the Stars, 2526 Armada, SINS and MOO2 have starlanes. I prefer starlanes as they provide natural choke points and planets are usually the only interesting things in the galaxy to fight about. Why would you fight in the middle of space? Unless your attacked en route I suppose. I wonder what Galciv2/Sins/Homeworld/(insert your favourite game) players prefer?

Good question. Some time a go Frogboy was working on it. Perhaps he has been busy with Elemental. I hope he finds the time do it as there is still some low hanging fruit (see the topics on this). I believe Galciv2 is still selling well and that Stardock would find new buyers as a result of keeping some resources devoted to this best seller.

In the case of a private company without a profit maximising motive, the company can still get competition/into trouble due to fierce competition from other developing firms which do follow profit maximising goals and as a result have the retained earnings to invest in new design/technologies.
