No one has brought this up yet (so far as I noticed), but I'm sure most people here have realized it. This paradigm changes warfare gameplay a lot, and I think in a good way. Rather than just sacking city after city, you have different options for attack and counterattack. If you simply can't handle your enemies dragons, one option would be to cut off his "hatchery".
