Long thread, someone linked me here from the thread I created in regards to noticing that the game is only using 1 core fully and 1 other core ~20%. Has anyone mentioned this yet because that would seem to be a big cause for the slow downs, especially when you're up into the hundreds of turns in a game. I did some testing by setting the affinity for the program from 6 cores and iterated down to 1 core, and there was literally no performance difference. Maybe someone at

I decided to take a look at how much CPU utilization this game uses and I was amazed to see it's only pegging 1 out of 6 CPUs. 80-90% usage on one CPU, about 20% on another, and the rest stay relatively idle. This would most likely be a major cause for slowdowns on larger maps, or when your game has dragged on for some time. Anyone else seeing this? Maybe someone with an Intel CPU could check to see what their CPU utilization is during the game.
Just because I don't see it means it's not really happening....
Currently the easiest way to completely confound the AI (if and when it's putting up a fight) is to build as large of a stack of archers as you can. The AI just can't deal with that, and hasted archer stacks demolish everything I've fought.
I cannot name a single game in recent years, apart from a few simple platformers, where I have not encountered bugs, glitches and frequent crashes of varying levels of seriousness.
And I can name a bunch of games I've recently played to completion where I didn't encounter 1 single game stopping bug (game stopping being a crash, quest not functioning like it should, etc). That being said, Stardock is getting so
Just fired up another game on the hardest difficulty, took over 7 cities in 50 turns with just ONE unit. Of course the AI had a HUGE warband roaming around (something like 400+ attack power) doing nothing.... Probably not going to ask for a refund because I have some hope, and I really enjoyed GalCiv 1/2. Come on Stardock, let's get the ball rolling again!
I'll have to start off by saying that I'm quite displeased with this product. What ever happened to not releasing unfinished products? Scream and yell all you like, but this game is unfinished. Memory leaks, broken game mechanics, game stopping issues within the campaign, etc , etc. The thing that really gets me though is how braindead the AI is. I could live with just about everything else, but the AI opponents are the core of the game. On the hardest difficulty I had no problem taking over
