Please download/extract http://sd.stardock.com/lh_update_exe_remove.zip to the FE: LH directory and overwrite the existing 2 files. Go ahead and launch the game by hitting Play in Steam. This will be in the beta update today. This should sort the Norton and McAfee issues for anyone not running Windows XP Home (in that case, ignore those 2 files and launch FE: LH from the LegendaryHeroes.exe directly). If you are still having problems, please post back with the exact OS,
Nakor
I included some of the DLC files when making the patch updater today. I've pulled them out and replaced the download. Kris
Lord Reliant, the full 1.02 standalone install is up on the store as well. It took a little longer for me to make live earlier. Kris
I have a Stardock badge by my user and member #2. A sig would be overkill. Kris
No, it's not available via Stardock Central. The 1.01 update will be. Kris
A beta/pre-release of Fallen Enchantress 1.01 is available now available for download. A patch installer for 1.00 is available from https://stardock.cachefly.net/FallenEnchantress-1.004_beta_update_setup.exe for standalone installs direct from Stardock's store. Steam users can update to the beta by right-clicking on the Fallen Enchantress entry in Steam and selecting Properties,
I suspect it was Windows Defender chugging a bit as it tried to display the UAC prompt (from when you first clicked on the .exe to launch it). Kris
The updated Stardock Central has been made live for everyone. Kris
Based on feedback and error logging on the server, we've put together an updated Stardock Central that should handle some conditions better. https://stardock.cachefly.net/stardockcentral285-setup.exe Added checking md5 of chunks after each chunk is written to disk (vs just in memory) Added retries around the new code path for checking md5 after the chunks were written Added additional error logging to server (for more verbose reporting of md5 vs file locking time
The self-extractor is a .7z one, so you would need an extractor that can handle that format. You can also email kwilas at stardock dot com and I can provide an alternative download in smaller chunks. Kris

A small Stardock Central update with additional logging for errors has been pushed out. We're putting additional retries into place if it hits a speed bump in the download process, but that's still being tested internally. Best additional suggestion testing here today: exclude the %USERPROFILE%\Downloads\Stardock directory from your anti-virus, or turn the AV off during the download. We've got at least one reproducible test case with file i/o getting blocked by the AV during downl

I was probably around employee #12, though I've been helping test Stardock software since Brad was the only employee. Apart from Brad, there are 2 other employees who have been here longer than myself. Kris
It's live from the store download page, Stardock Central, or Steam (as appropriate). https://stardock.cachefly.net/FallenEnchantress-0.992_update_mini_setup.exe will patch the 0.990 or 0.991 beta5 builds as well and is much smaller of a download. Kris
How old is the version you are trying to patch over? 0.983 would only patch a few more recent previous builds from before it, though I didn't realize until today how that error condition would show up. Kris
We're exploring whether one of the data files isn't getting replaced properly. If anyone can still reproduce this, please email kwilas at stardock.com the FallenEnchantressPatchLog.txt and data\english\ElementalDefs.xml files from \program files\stardock games\fallenenchantress. Yes, a completely clean install would probably also be happy. Though give us a little bit here and save redownloading 2.7GB. Kris
Yes, it runs on Windows 8. And will be supported on the release version of Windows 8 when available. The website will be updated in the coming weeks. Kris
I think we've found what was unhappy with the webservices and fixed it for the moment. At some point in the next month or so, there will also be an update pushed for WoM, Demigod, and Sins: Trinity for Windows 8 compatibility, though that is not directly related to this particular issue for mp. Kris
+2 for Fringe and MI-5 (Spooks to Jafo, though yes, people tend to die) Kris

The most likely culprit is bad RAM. This can have corrupted a few bytes of the download or it could be corrupting things during the extract operation. Had it happen last week with one of the developer laptops. Windows 7/Vista include a Windows Memory Diagnostic (forget the name on Vista) that does an excellent job of checking for that. I am emailing Erzeal separately with something more technical to try (to see if the download is already corrupt) + an alternative set of
I plugged the full URL into the update field and you caught it while I was testing the links were correct earlier. Kris
