The open space strategy is to simplistic,you just form fleets and head straight to planets..Starlanes can have strategic chokepoints,mines etc.

The elements are just like the different weapon systems in Galciv2, ie worthless and could be called anything.I thought with added tactical battles in this game you would have actual tactical choices.The design is pretty clear that the game is not going to please hardcore strategy gamers.
It's Galciv2 with swords.

This game is more than just great,it is a legend game that will be played in 10 years time just like BG2.
I like these 4X space games,so I will send a mail and see.
The problem is the game is really lacking for interesting factions.A bonus to mana or whatever is a pretty dull difference between fations. I always thought the races and lore in GC2 were dire compared to MOO1/2 or Sword of the Stars , and sadly I feel the same about Elemental factions.Go check out the mod Fall from Heaven for great lore and factions that are actually different.
My view is that only having human factions is a big mistake.
The game engine looks nice but after playing the CIV4 fantasy mod I wonder if the gameplay is a bit lightweight from what I have seen.
Soft: 75 is the one I like.
HL1 sold 9 million,Orange box 5 million copies so I would think Valve would take issue with (not to mention thrive on sales that are less than astronomical).
I want eye candy.So bad idea.
