I can see the two sides of this as well.. looking into the future when my own child will be out in the world. But health issues fall under the HIPAA Act, and therefore out of the hands of Universities and colleges. They CAN'T inform the parents per federal law, and more importantly, most colleges and universities won't know what health or medical issues have befallen a student. Do you really think a student health service notifies the student affair
Harumph
ROFLMAO Q is involved somewhere.. He'd have to be..
I don't have many opinions on this because.. well, the options are just too limitless. But I'll state the opinions i have that are the strongest. A) I think Harry will die. I mean, J.K.Rowling wants this to be her last book. Do you honestly think that if she leaves him alive and an open ending that the book publishers will just leave it at that? She's made entirely too much money for too many people. Plus, what kind of life could Harry p
Also, it seems as though the jail is unequipped to handle his case since he cannot shower. A hospital or treatment facility would surely be able to care for him better. Ah.. but he IS in a medical facility. He is just confined to the same area they reserve for criminals. Most hospitals and medical fac
Oh.. absolutely, I'd have to go with O'Reilly in the name calling.. but I think in a bare knuckled fight, hands down, Rivera would win. Hey.. maybe that's what we should have instead of UFC and elections. The PFC.. The Political Fighting Championship.. Who wouldn't kill to see Dick Cheney take on John Kerry in the octagon?
Two days ago, my husband and I were watching TV, just flipping channels and we came across the Bill O'Reilly segment on Fox News. The show had just started and they were discussing an illegal immigrant in Virginia Beach who drove drunk, crashed into another car (rear ended) and killed two teenage best friends. Geraldo Rivera was the guest pundit speaker.. and in cas
Something I'd like to mention at this point... I went back and re-read the news articles. He came specifically to the United States to be treated for this. He'd seen multiple doctors, both in Russia and here in the States.. I cannot believe that one, let alone all of them, failed to communicate the seriousness of his illness. He knew. Regardless of what he says, he had to know. One thing you also failed to mention is the SERIOUS nature of the pa
I'm very aware how TB works, though thank you for listing telling us all. The man in question, however, *seems* to have been ignorant of just how much damage he could have been doing. Since we don't know how much he knew, or how often he was warned, I can't say if he refused treatment, or just couldn't afford it. It is possible,
My reason for posting these things: what rights do these people have? They have dangerous illnesses, yes. They pose a danger to society, yes. But should they be tracked and imprisoned? Should they face criminal charges? And where does it end? Do people with MRSA deserve or need to be locked up? It's extremely contagious
Look, you're really generalizing here without sharing specifics that would seriously damage your point of view. I've worked in an Infectious Disease clinic for about 4-5 years now. I've worked closely with the state, and with the local Health Department. You do NOT get an immediate pass that says "You're going to jail if you have Tuberculosis". You ONLY go to jail if you've refused treatment, refused to acknowledge you are a danger to oth
Hahahaha... I'm sorry. That just evoked images of flea-market edge fringed panama jack t-shirts and the pony tail on the side of the head instead of the back. Oh.. and the truckload of kids riding in the back of the pick up on their way to the lake to swim. It's a wonder none of us died on those trips.
Before I say anything else, this is NOT a historic account of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. You want to see history? Go get The Civil War by Ken Burns. That's an accurate historical documentary. This isn't even BASED off the historic Battle of Thermopylae. This is based on a graphic novel based off an old movie based off someone else's loose retelling of
Did you draw those comics? I am totally ignorant about the world of comics, but hope to learn more as I read here. Your website rocks, by the way. Hey Tova! Thank you very much. Yes, I do draw those comics. It's sort of like my fantasy life at work.. how I make sense of what happens around me. The treefrogs, well, I just like treefrogs. I used to be quite knowledgeable about comics, but that was about 1
Good for you! I have a ten year old daughter who loves comic books and yu-gi-oh cards and anime figurines (takes after dear old mom and dad), and we have a choice of two places to go here in Lexington within a reasonable driving distance. One place (with a catty name, The Comic Interlude) is cram packed with stuff to the gills.. but the service is sooo horrible. We went there one free comic book day and I don't know if they thought my well-b
I don't think you intentionally "stole" someone's work. How can you write the same paragraphs verbatim without intentionally stealing someone's work? I don't jump on the bandwagon on my husband's issues usually. I am neither eloquent enough nor do I give such weighty matters (i.e. the content of the article) enough thought to give my two-cents, but plagiarism is low. I've watched bakerstreet's ranting on JU and I've done my own little thing (comics)
The fact of the matter is that we're just much more diverse than we were even ten years ago and kids are much more sensitive to things than they were ten years ago as well. I've got a kid in 5th grade, and I have yet to see the kids being more "sensitive" to these kinds of things. Matter of fact, what I hear from my kid and her "culturally diverse" friend (her and her mom are from Cuba) are how ridiculous the school system policies are. As of yet, we'v
Here is a follow up to my listing on online comics (i.e. free comics). I read all of these on a weekly basis. Some of these are not as main stream as the first listing I posted, but their quirkiness is their strength. Also, I’m going to plug my very own comic, <a href="http://mayihelpyou.comicgenesis.com
There once was a barber named Philly Who thought pubic hair was so silly His girlfriend got shaved and now he's most grave cuz he finds his ____ is quite chilly. I'm sorry..that was just wrong. Here's hopin' you feel better!
KFC said: Satan already has the Jews blinded to Christ. But... wasn't Jesus jewish? I grew up in a very religious (freaky religious) household. We certainly did not "worship" Santa Claus, and all the children knew the true meaning of Christmas. Your humorous article was blatantly beligerant whet
I have to agree with Boogiebac and Fued. I think where Sony has proven their mistake is by listening solely to "research" execs who told them that their main target group was financially stable 28 - 38 year old males, who have the disposable income to purchase an entertainment system. This completely ignores parents, people who have less disposable income and those who would purchase a Nintendo solely because it's Nintendo. And they're tak
I'm betting that he keeps the cash he's been paid, all 3.whatever million of it. Hah.. I just read that any money Simpson gets off this, Goldman's lawyers are mobilizing to take it to fulfill the civil judgement of 33 mil against Simpson for Mr. Fred Goldman. Good.
How is he a loser? Seems to me he's the ultimate winner. A) He has enough celebrity (infamy) to be still making money off his lifestyle regardless of public opinion of him. B) He's literally gotten away with murder IF he was the killer which a jury acquitted him of. C) His book and tv deal may have gotten cancelled, but Fox network AND the book publisher are still going to pay him. It may not be the ginormous sum originally bandied about
There are several out there, but the two that I've used has been Rosetta Stone (very expensive) and Spanish for Dummies (less expensive, not as expansive). I work in a medical clinic and a friend who spoke fluently actually started teaching me. I too, wish I'd appreciated languages classes more in High school. As it is, I think I truly enjoyed the Latin classes I took, and that it has actually helped me. After she taught me basic sounds and alphabe
I read this article, and it's very hard to add anything to the responses already places forward here. I will stress one thing, though, that stood out to me. Do you think its an accident the young girl you care about is in your life? I don't think there's anyone that has answers to the question
Thank you.. and that's really the point. It doesn't matter how stylistic or fashionable a movie is, if the story does not hold up.. well.. how good of a movie can it be? I just saw the french film, "Immortal (Ad Vitam)", which again, I was really excited about. The story was an interesting concept but it just didn't translate well to film and no amount of special effects could make that work. It did make me want to get the comic books though. <
