Other cool things you can do: 1) You can upgrade colony ships to custom constructors and you can upgrade constructor ships to custom colony ships. This can be very useful if you get all the way to the planet and someone beats you to it, but happen to notice there's an unclaimed resource nearby.... Also helps when you've built too many CS and all the planets are claimed, just upgrade them to custom constructors and build starbases! 2) In the ship design screen you can

The manual says population of starting planet, populatino of ending planet, distance and starbase improvements. Is this all? Just wanted to know if the income of the starting or ending planet had any effect. And if you guys had noticed how distance and population balance out (which being more important.) Final 2 questions: I think this worked in a previous game but I have not confirmed: If you build a trade ship on earth, send it to Wardell V (your planet), put i
Okay, so maybe I didn't read the manual closely enough, but farming does not produce population, it just raises the population cap for a given planet, right? So, what are the driving forces to increase population, morale? Yes, farms increase your cap. I know population modifiers didnt' even work in the first few versions
Found the 1.0D1 release notes in History.txt in the main folder. Still don't know if I can find an updated manual.
Just interested in what was tweaked in 1.0D1 Oh and where can I download an upodated manual? Still don't understand tech points and how they work...
would like to see, as in GalCiv1, that hitting space bar when there are no units selected will automatically find the next unit, or end the turn. I like keyboard shortcuts. This appears to work in 1.0D1 now. <TD class="mb-Body-Quote-
Ok. I just bought the game retail and installed the latest Bonus pack from yesterday and it appears I have a few bug fixes, such as descritpions in the tech trading screen. I didn't pre-order so I don't get the collectors edition content and I don't have to run any separate exe right?
Very easy to miss, the link takes you to a page for the "bonus pack" but of course we all have the bonus pack, and the bonus pack doesn't say anything clear like (looking for 1.0D1? you have to re-download the bonus pack! )
Apparently the patch is INSIDE the bonus pack I guess? It's not at all clear.
HOW DO YOU GET THE PATCH. I'm having the same probelm! I don't want to install stardock central and I 'm getting the exact link you are!
Now it takes me to collectorsEdition.aspx and I still can't download the patch. I don't want to put stardock central on this machine. The link to the patch is still broken!!!!! I'm fully registered but the link takes me to collectors edition page and not the patch. Are there any alternate locations? Has anyone downloaded it without the stardock central installed?

Button to move all auto-pilot ships, so you don't lose a turn. Button to go to a ship with moves left If you are fiddiling around in the planet screens and want to go back to cycling through your ships, space bar doesn’t always do it. Tech costs mouseover in the diplomacy screen, or at least sort them by cost rather than alphabetically. On the GNN the "ship is built" message should have a launch button. Give us an option to get one of those right bo
Ability to set home planet for a frieghter. Just build it, put it in orbit of the starting planet and then launch it and send it to the AI civ. The trade route will alaways begin at the last planet you orbited. (I'm pretty sure that's the way it worked for me last night!)
Diplomacy is fun, but in this game I need to spend half the game trading techs to keep up with the AI. That's not fun. If you're in a war, you want to focus on the war, not trading techs will all your allies taking up all your playing time. There should be a "no tech trading" option like Civ4 or at least have the AI trade techs a lot less often. If the ai has COOL relations with another civ it doesn't make sense that they give up their best military techs for Sensors Ma
I agree, I need to spend half my playing time trading techs just to keep up with the AI. The fun factor of the game is seriously diminished by this. If you are in a war, you want to be focusing on your ships, etc... You don't want to spend half the war in the tech trading screen so you don't get left in the dust by the AI. There should be a "no tech trading" option like Civ4 or at least make the AI trade less often with each other
Been playing a little and I have been developing some strategies, but I'm not sure if they are good ones or not. First is planet grabbing. My stragegy has been to crank up military spending to max and even buy colony ships if necessary and send them to the BEST planets first. Ths nearly always loses me mars, and other class 5-8 planets. So far this has been successful when a ENEMY opponent colonizes them, but totally messes me up when the altarians or other friendly races do it. They

As of sunday night and monday morning I cannot download the D1 patch. When I click the link ojn this message it takes me to download.aspx page. When I click on the green download button for the D1 patch it takes me to registration.aspx. There is no link there to D\L the patch in regisration.aspx. and it says I am successfully registered
Obsolete ship models still appear on the upgrade screen. Sometimes I receive a message that all my ships are out of range and I can't move them. Restoring a saved game has the same bug. Only stopping and restarting the game works. If I click on the GNN link to get to a planet (which just contructed something) and then I go to the shp designer from there (the GNN is still open) then try to save your design, you won't get the save design dialoog box, then when you cancel th
Medium is good sometimes, but it is very hit or miss. Sometimes you can grab 8-10 planet right away and sometimes you get cornered and are stuck with 3! Large just takes too long. Usually I have to just keep restarting until I get something that looks fair but won't give me too much of an advantage. THis problem existed i the original game, too. What do you guys think? On Medium do you notice that your starting point can range from ridulously good to horribly bad? Do you ever try to pla
The music reminds me of the city songs on Heroes of might and magic 3. Maybe it was composed by the same person. I still give best music to Homeworld (even though some of it was written by a famous composer, Samuel Barber) and the synth music on Age of Wonders 2 was pretty dang great. Too bad the sound effects in this game aren't quite as good as the music.
To scroll I just hold down left mouse button on the mini map and move the mouse around. Works good with a lapotp pointing device or a standard mouse. Fast as hell!
Being a pretty liberal guy myself, Gideon, Moderateman, and the other right wingers have an incredibly good point. Anyone can say we have to be above this, above killing. The truth of the matter is that we're killing to prevent more killing. This is beyond an eye for an eye. I'm against the Iraq war as much as the next Democrat,
You don't win people to your side through ad nauseam name calling, greggbert. I suggest you take a look at some other leftist bloggers (myrrander and kingbee would be good examples) to see how to rea
