I am getting an oddity when using the SDC "Web Browser" (I don't know if this happens on IE, MSN8, or Netscape) - when I submit a post I get a white screen witn nothing but a "0" in the upper left corner. And - with SDC and its browser getting better and better, will we be getting a spell checker soon?

In 1.04.059 espionage seems to have quit working. There are two races that have techs I don't have and I paid more than enough espionage to raise to the advanced level with those two races several game years ago and still my spies have not stolen any of those techs. [Message Edited]

THere are just too many suggestions in this thread for me to find the ones I have in mind, so if they have been suggested already, let mine add to the collective voice: 1). Add sorting by star system influence to the galactic planet list display. 2). Allow us to go directly to the sort we want next on the galactic planet list display. When we change sort do the resort from the current sort (which I have heard, and looks like, is already done).

I just played a game on the latest (non-beta) level where once all of the anomalies were gone no new ones were generated. For over four years (over 48 turns), not a single new anomaly appeared.

I have just discovered a strange skull and cross bones bug. I colonized a planet while at war with the Torians and they invaded it almost right away, using an attack that degraded planets, then, they destroyed the colony (I had considerable influence advantage over them) and the Planet Quality went from 14 to 13. Then I colonized it again and the skull and crossbones showed, and the planet detail said something about seeing to the culture problem because of the strong influence of Kistler's Krus

In the domestic screen governer's list, the priority queue will not scroll beyond the number of social improvements that are available to be produced. While waiting for the ability to save governor's lists I have preplaned line numbers that I put social improvements on leaving blanks where the ones not available will go when they are researched. For instance, I can move the harmonic generator to position 24 even though I only have 20 social projects I can currently build, but I can not

I like SprudL's idea as it would increase the sense of diplomacy being a major part of Galciv, and I would like to expand on it some. We should be able to ask (by trade or demand) a race (major or minor) to break any treaty we select with another race. Even severing trade routes. We should also be able to "warn" other races why it is in their best interest to do so ("they are setting you up", "you are next on their list", etc.). While this sounds ambitious, perhaps it can be im

1). The governor should NEVER change a social project until that project is completed. Anything else is a bug. (This was worked out during the Beta and the Stardock people had it working correctly then.) 2). The option for the governor to ignore the GNN for a completed project is just that. When on, the planet completion view for a completed social project on a planet with a governor selected will not be displayed. When off, the planet completion view for a completed social project will

When reloading a saved game the planet view of Earth pops up and the mini-view is supposed to show where Sol is, but the yellow square on the mini-view does not shift to the location of Sol. Level 1.03.054.

freespace (post # 205), A space in the title of a ship or tech definition will cause problems, but spaces between quotes in the "name" parameter are of no consequences (other than how we humans perceive grammer). You may have a point about the inconsistancy between the value and the text for the "technology capital" achievement. The Stardock people should look at it.

LordTheRon (post #180) OK. I still only see it under the betas, not with show Beta off. I know they had problems a couple of weeks ago when Brad posted an update using the wrong procedure and it showed up this way. It also felt like he was the only one at the office today (I couldn't find anyone else from Stardock/GC on the chats), so maybe the oddities you see are because of the posting procedure he used. I would wait until the rest of the Stardock crew comes in to work (tomorrow morn

LordTheRon (post #178) - The Beta (1.02(rc).071) that shows on SDC for Galciv is old and crashes. The non-beta version (1.02.049) is newer. Turn off the "beta" setting to get it.

I just had another variant of the "planet list"/"no graphics" problem. This time I could not get rid of the planet list after handling a defection to me. I was able to call up the ship list and the empire's planet list, but when I toggled them off the planet list of the system that defected to me came back.

Here is a minor bug - With a star base in the same sector upgraded to give ships a speed boost ("Stellar Wake" and "inverse tractor beam") a newly built and de-orbitted ship does not gain the speed bonuses until the next turn.

Llaamaboy (post # 165) - It sounds like you ran into a crash. Only by successfully using SmartException (available under the software "freestuff" tab) can anything be found out about what caused the crash. Also, I remember reading in this tread somewhere that one of the mods did indeed have a problem that could cause a crash. Uninstalling and reinstalling Galciv, if I understand the process correctly, will not remove the library mods (or any other mods that didn't modify _onl

Vorlin, You are right. A reload is different from an exit and restart. And I generally exit and restart instead of reload. I will have to try a reload next time I see either of these bugs.

Vorlin, I just reread one of your earlier posts, so I checked my current population and it is 2,185.6 Billion. Also, I was just chatting with Midnight Louie and he says he has seen one of these two problems once now, on WinXP, so I no longer have any suspicions along OS lines. (Of course, there is always DirectX, but I saw this failing on versions 8.0, 8.1, and 9.0.)

Vorlin, You sound like a programmer (I am a retired one). Cari and I discussed these possibilities, so I know she was looking for them, but I think it was hard to figure out just what table or array might have been the problem. Since reloading seems to resolve the problem (at least for a few turns) the thought that a table or array is involved certainly has merit, since tables tend to get rebuilt from scratch on a reload, sometimes with some optimization to boot. I now know of a third
