Have you looked at the debug file? All that info is saved by the game at startup. This is one of the reasons the Stardock people ask for the debug file whenever you send in a bug report via e-mail. (They also want the SmartException report for crashes.)

Did you ever play GC1? It had "governors" that handled the queing of social projects. During the GC1 beta the governors weren't put into the code until one of the later cycles. I assume (hope) the same will happen with GC2.

This is another thing that was not quite intuitive. The planet view is new, and will take getting used to. In order to see what you can build, you have to click on one of the squares in the planet view. Then the list comes up. Question: Where can we find what all those resource like things mean (are they indeed resources?)? I would like a good pointer to it. "In the journals" just makes it hard to find.

It would be nice to have it vanish as quick as it can, but it would also be nice to know what it was. I kept wondering what it was until I was able to piece it together a few letters at a time. Once I knew what it was it was no longer confusing and irritating. On the other hand, maybe the last one I say flash by was something else, and maybe it was important, and maybe ....

Has anyone been able to determine whether the colonization CTD happens only when autocoloning? I have tried moving the colony ship next to the planet on autopilot then moving it onto the planet using the cursor keys and it seems to work. Using autopilot all the way to the planet has failed on me a few times. (This sounds similar to a problem that showed up during the beta of GC1.)

Bob, Check the video info in the debug file. Then check to see what the latest available drivers are. Many of us have partially solved this problem by upgrading our video drivers.

Check the video data in the debug file in your galciv2 directory and see if it matches with the date and version of the video driver you installed. If it does not match then probably you did not quite complete the installation procedure for your video driver.

"Load game" is the only option you see? You should also see "new game" and "exit" and they should both be clickable. Only the "continue game" should be not clickable. Have you checked the debug file (in the galciv2 directory) for other clues?

The turn button is also dissappearing on me. Sometimes wiggling the main galaxy view will get it to come back, but not always. I tried everything I could think of this last time and gave up.

Very impressive. The main screen is quite different from GC1 and will take me some time to get used to, but so far I like it. The 3D affects of the ship build screen is very nice. I have some difficulty understanding the format of the tech research screen. Maybe it is intuitive to some, but I can't seem to get the pattern of the techs being shown. Obviously some techs can not be researched until its prereqs have been researched, but the layou

I have the latest Intel Extreme drivers on now, but I thought it worth mentioning that you have to be very careful to follow ALL of the instructions. I missed the final one the first time and did not get it installed. I have seen some other posts that look like other people may have had similar difficulties when updating their drivers.

Trade star bases increase the trade route's value when a mini-trader is in the star base's sector (10%, 25%, and 50%). The additional income is well worth the star bases and their trade improvements. Also, the further apart the trade partners are, and the larger the combined population of the trade partners, the more valuable the trade route is (just another thing to consider when establishing trade routes).

Population growth is determined by morale on a sliding scale when morale is between 50% and 100%; with the higher morale giving more growth per turn. Morale decreases as the population grows, and can be increased at a planet level with certain social projects and achievements (one per race), and at an empire level by exploring some types of space junk (anomalies) and building star bases on one of the resource types (the yellow one) and adding certain mining improvements to the star bases you hav

The "Ghost ship" problem is still with us at the 1.12.079 level. Has anyone tried to fix it? Or is the fix going into a new level (gc2, next expansion pack, etc.)? Problem description: The ICONs for a ship type will sometimes dissappear during game play. Saving, quiting, and restarting with the saved game brings the ICONs for the ghost ships back.

Has anyone else had difficulty with the inconsistant behavior of the scroll bars or am I the only one? This seems to happen most to me when using the planet list with lots of planets (100+). If the planet list is positioned at the top and I click anywhere in the shadow area of the scroll bar sometimes it will move to where the mouse was clicked instead of moving down 7 planets. Once in a while it won't matter where in the list it is positioned and will do the same in the up or down direction, bu

I have seen this one too, for many releases (lost graphics for ships). This last time it was for transports and combat transports. A save game and reload should restore the graphics for them. And Cari knows about the problem. I noticed that in 1.10.073 that there are some new error messages in the debug file that might relate to the problem some how, and sent her a copy of it. On 1.09C.001 - an amasing bug - the great dissapearing terror star. While building a star base I had a dreadnaught on the same tile in Guard mode. When I built the second terror star module on it the star base dissapeared. I have now completed the terror star and it is still invisible, although I can still see it in the stacked ship list and can still add improvement modules to it. I have yet to see what the affects are of saving and reloading the game.

In 1.09C.001, a very minor behavior problem: I was trying to see if a problem I was having with my governors' social project lists was the result of continuing a game started on 1.09B in 1.09C. As I was emptying and reloading a governor's list I discovered a behavior that makes the operation rather difficult. After moving a project to the candidate list the available project list repositions to the top of the list. As I was getting to the last few projects I had to continually page the list
