I actually had this in my own game. Had a group of trolls moving in on my city where I had only 2 units of cheap troops. However, when I placed my hero with his army in it, they turned back and walked out of my borders. Few turns later I moved hero and his army out and, whaddaya know, trolls appeared again and went straight for my city. My guess is that monsters will sometimes target your cities but will turn away if your forces are strong enough. What exactly is strong enough
Might I suggest making fortresses if you are planning to conquor everything in sight? Not for the production or the unit bonuses, but for the building at level 4 that gives -10% unrest in all cities, and the one at level 5 that gives -30% unrest in all cities. I like that the unrest penalty means that building a few fortresses early on actually becomes a reasonable strategy instead of a waste of the city that could have been a town o

When trying to design new Juggernaut, first time it works fine. However, when you try to make a new design again second time some of his abilities get 'stuck' as not selectable or unelectable like this: As you can see, his defensive trait is 'grayed out' and can't be unselected. Reloading doesn't help but closing game and starting it up again fixes it ... until you try again to mak

Well, actually on windows 7 it doesn't minimize when I click on another monitor screen. It just brings up taskbar underneath game on my main screen. That being said, I see no point in people posting here that they like it the way it is here. It's an OPTION that is being asked for. If you don't like it, don't use it in game. Understand that others may like, for example, to scroll map by moving to the edge of the window and they can't do that ATM when they have multi

From what I saw, curse works fine on other factions, just not on monster faction.

I don't use them for the exact reason that was said in the OP. The administrator needs to stay in cities while leveling up is outside of cities. So you take administrator that gives you like, 15% or so reduced unrest in the city and that's it. Your empire grows, unrest grows, one administrator can do so little later in game. If you take more then one you are significantly weakening yourself by limiting your fighting heroes. Basically, the problem is that there are almost no ways for a

Ok, this one is old issue from War for Magic beta times. If you want to move unit/army to a tile that is occupied by caravan of another nation, you can't. However if you travel to some destination that is farther away and stop at the same tile with another nation's caravan because you ran out of moves, game will allow you to stay at the same tile with that caravan. So game mechanic allows for your armies to share same tile with another factions caravan, you just can't make it happ

Yeah, ok. It can be useful but 'lock mouse to screen' option is standard for today games and should be included.

Playing with settings: -World difficulty: Challenging - Monster frequency: Dense The AI definitely gets attacked by monsters. In fact, it gets attacked a lot. Playing on large map with 8 AI factions + my own custom. 2 factions lost their capitols to monsters (they got razed). I think it was Magnar and Yithril. Also seen several cities 'disappear' in the distance, probably also by monsters. AI was very slow to expand and when my scouts explored around their bord

Happened to me once. Had to reload for some reason. Save was from just before the event. Didn't happen again. Point is, if you get annoyed by some event like this, you can load game from before and it most likely wont happen again. Some ability to control what events happen or being able to mod them out would be welcome though.

I use upgrades on outpost depending on their location. If there is a border town, you may consider building outpost right next to it and then upgrade defensive bonuses on it to help in battles. Also, high tower upgrade helps reach further with your border and get an additional resource(s) or, like in my last game, connect your isolated city that was just one tile outside your borders. I find upgrades useful addition to outposts. Not sure if AI ever uses them though.

I've tried three times now, and it fails to process, telling me that my order was neither submitted, nor was I charged for it.
Quoting Daynarr, reply 10Also Shadow Magic is not a sequel but rather expansion of AoW 2. It has a tons of content though so it could almost pass as sequel. 1) It didn't require ownership of AoW 2 2) Was sold as a stand-alone game 3) No reference was made to it being billed as an "expansion" :: Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic :: http://www.triumphstudios.com/shadowmagic/features.php <br /

Please tell me you are kidding me. You are accusing a company of advertising as if that is a crime and not NORMAL PRACTICE OF ALL COMPANIES ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. I mean, how dare they advertise anything and actually try to sell more of their products. After this I'd say you are trolling, and wasting my time.
This is what I never understand. People will argue till they're blue in the face that "this is not DRM" and does absolutely nothing to restrict our play online or offline. My answer is, then why use it all?
Maybe to buy and download software in one place? DRM restricts you to play only when you are logged on to DRM servers and it's form of copy protection for a product. It ensures you have a legal copy of it. Impulse allows you to buy and download software

So you install it and then forget about Impulse. You don't need Impulse or internet connection to play it. Just like you don't need to have Impulse (or internet connection) for any other game you buy on Impulse. Impulse isn't like Steam. Also, there won't be any more official patches for AoW:SM so you don't need to worry about updating it.

Just bought whole trilogy. It's 3 new races in the SM. Shadow Demons, Syrons and Nomads. Also Shadow Magic is not a sequel but rather expansion of AoW 2. It has a tons of content though so it could almost pass as sequel. AoW had 12 races and allowed 12 players in single game (as opposed to 8 in AoW2 and AoW2:SM). It also has tactical combat that is arguably even more tactical then later AoW games. For starters, units start further away from each other giving you time t
