I like Climbers suggestion about magic vs might empires but how to balance that on all map sizes.... [e digicons]:\[/e]

The question I always got when someone comes with a suggestion like that is: "And how are they going to balance that?" The design needs to be great, and putting in random suggestions will ruin the game. Bravenue Like you, I'm also an RTS guy. I like TBS with tactical combat though and I suspect you do too. Civlization is not an option for me since it's so abstract and lack micromanagement (Civ
Yep, you are assuming tanks are just one massive hunk of steel that floats magically above the surface. If battles took place on a completely flat, indestructable surface with no where to run and hide then, yes, a bowman would never be able to beat a tank. But that's not the case. We can assume that in Civ, whoever is piloting the tanks at least have to eat and, presumably, the tank must consume something as well. Wi

I guess you could say that family members could be more easily trusted with important tasks, but they must always expect to be subservient and never inherit anything other than their allowance. If their sovereign should die in battle then they must obey some distant relative that they don't even know. Would that be acceptable to the son of
Randomness may or may not be good, but it was ludicrous when macemen and longbowmen would destroy my stack of tanks in civ...
I've heard that before (I don't play Civ) and I wonder why they didn't just give tanks and planes an armor which make them nigh impervious to such primitive weapons. Kinda like the armorsystem in Dawn of War. Low damage Guardsmen against a Vehicle_Armor_Medium was absolutely pathetic. May

Since I'm a competetive gamer (of both TBS & RTS) I'm not fond of major random happenings. In Heroes V for example, if I take the other players mines (no matter if the opponent is a human or A.I) then I expect him to NOT get any free resources unless the difficulty gives it to him but that's a flawed difficulty design as it should be done like Heroes II where it gives a % bonus and not stuff from thin air. Absolutely nothing wrong wit

in Age of Wonders, among other starting options is "leader on map". If checked, you start with a hero that is you. If he dies it's game over. If you don't check it however, then you DON'T start with a hero and you have to lose all your cities to lose the game. I highly preferred to not have the leader in the game since it was so easy to power up your leader with DEF and RES so he couldn't die and then get a little ATT and go kill the other leaders. And that was WITH Warlods Mod that restricte

Random events or getting bonuses will be either too weak to matter at which point they are not a reversal at all OR too strong which would make building up your forces pointless. Having a game where everyone races to get beat up the most for the bounceback bounses would be absurd . Pulling a metor shower spell out of your

I thought this thread was on the 1st page of Personal Computing....where the hell did I find it if not there?? Yeah I figure pages in here on the 1st page don't become 4 years old but I don't know where I found it then.... Besides, it's not bad to necro threads if the post was good.

What does it matter that some corporations got your info..? Are you afraid of spam mails or offers? I don't see the danger in that. A grocerychain called ICA tracks what you buy and send you discount checks on groceries you've bought some times. If the government had all my info though....! That's why I want a secret identity. Just need to find somebody the same age and give out that info if I f.e are caught going by train for f

Antialiasing draws alot of GPU power though and you get the best results by first maxing screen resolution and then increaseing antialiasing.
We just want to focus on the game being as ugly as humanly possible for as long as we can so that we can focus on making the game fun without relying on its graphics as a crutch. The 3D engine should enhance the fun but not be the ultimate source of it.
Have anybody ever seen a quote like that from a gamedeveloper before..? The closest I've seen or heard is from Blizzard in that they get their games playable as soon as possible.

I'm a min-maxing type of guy (What's most effective? Lets abuse it!) If I can win by automating everything except one thing then I'm a bit hardpressed as to why I shouldn't do that. And is the A.I governing any good? If it's not, I would feel forced to do everything myself (and that's just NOT gonna happen) and if it can be automated it feels like the game plays itself and I'm spectating like people say about MoO III. From what I saw, it doesn't look i

Hard counters should be avoided. Soft counters are the way to go like StarCraft II does it. A Zergling swarm of 50 will kill 10 marines in the open in 5 seconds and they will maybe lose one or two Zerglings. But if the marines are in a chokepoint, they will kill A LOT more Zerglings then they would in the open since the Zerglings can only attack them with two Zerglings at a time. Same thing in Age of wonders if my two Swordsmen and four Crossbowmen guar

The actual truth is that Apple are very good at polishing other people's ideas and passing them off as there own. I'll give you one good example "Creatives Media Player" By

In every single thread about gamemechanics there's always talk about logic and sense just like it mattered.... You (developers) want the most control to make the game as good as possible so a willpower attribute would be useful. I also echo what Netriak said about lvls of control instead of success or failure.

This part of the game is incredibly important and as such, MUST be done right! I don't know the right way to do it but I got some suggestions. Spells can be cast in an area around the shard as is it were casted in your capitol and costing more the farther away it is (just like in Master of Magic which I dearly hope and assume you've already considered.) The perk "Channeler" (just like in good'ol Master of Magic) could make spellcasting cheaper o

I watched it in 3D and it's a great movie! James Cameron have always been my favorite director ever since Terminator and with Terminator II he became the only director I knew the name of.
