Have you any idea of the sort of computer you would need to run a game that big? Ever played Settlers 1 ? It's biggest map could take weeks to get close to the computer players (depending on starting positions) and weeks before you defeated 1 of the 3.... But you could only play the largest map if you PC was up to it (had the RAM). Does that imply that GC2 should do the same ? Not really, and SD did allready comment on map

Have you any idea of the sort of computer you would need to run a game that big? Ever played Settlers 1 ? With the biggest possible map size it took weeks to come near the enemy and longer to crush them.
Thanks for the help but I still dont understand why I can download the patch after giving my cd key downloading and then installing to my other computer with no problems and then having to be connected to the internet for the beta? SD believes (And IMHO I think they got that right) the "best" copy protection is to "reward" legit buyers by givin
Another guy just gave me a link to how to solve this. What a joke! After spending 40 bucks on this game I'm already feeling like a crook having to go through this song and dance to get a update. It even makes Starforce seem like a minor annoyance compared to this. But hey, you got my money Stardock thats all that matters right? You're not alone b
Why do you need phasors for communication? Sir why is he aiming that big laser at us, whats that Oooo I see hes just trying to communicate. Would the message happen to be, "DIEEEEEEEEEE"? Watch Babylon 5... (Either the serie or the movie "In the Beginning ") <img src="http://images.stard
Only way is the hard way I guess, copy the coded msg to a text file, put it on disk / USB stick and sent it on a with Inet access. SD will then send you a activation back.
What kind of ships do you park next to their planets ? Put a few troop transports nearby, should work..
Tech 1, 2, and 3 together, the AI gives you 22 BCs Selling 1-2 techs separately generates more trade income than clumping 4-5 techs together. It's tedious work at best...but until they fix it, not much we can do. Sounds to me like the AI is a better trader then.
There was a repair module in the beta (not the current one for 1.1) but I don't think I saw it in the release build.
You could try to uninstall everything and then install GC2 from Stardock central and not the CD. The game will be in english offcourse but at least you should be able to play..
Just started SDC and the only beta release was for SDC itself. The announcement for the beta to be released this week is from 3/22/2006 12:29:42 AM https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=161&AID=109085#841412 so where did Frogboy announce that it is allready available ? Do you have a link ?
The natives are getting restless... Relax people.. They said they are working on it, they said it will be released this week and that was 22-03, not 6 weeks ago. And what post do you mean ? I see 1 talking about 1.1 "Tech trade heavily schewed in" but I don't think he talks about 1.1 rarther if this can be fixed in 1.1
Something that might tricker this; if you click on a ship / planet / rally point / object at the moment the news pops up this seems to happen (Yes, I get impatient when waiting for my turn to begin)
@*xM3N* Leaving you with undefended planets ready to be taken over if you're at war with another..Getting those extra worlds can be a hit on your economy if you need to build up some defences asap. Works the other way around as well offcourse.. In my last game I was at war with the Torians and the Arceans. I had the Arceans crushed and they "surrendered" to the Torians... Leaving 10 worlds undefended.... Easy pickings <img sr

One game I had this return to me.. first time since the beta. Turned out I made a way point in the same spot a class 0 planet was (never noticed it as it was a rather small one) and several ships were trying to get to the way point.. Offcourse I waiting in this case wouldn't help at all... Unless the planet would move little <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smil
Ok, latest drivers (Driver date = 09-03-2006; driver version 8.4.2.1, (Release Date: March 17, 2006 and version 84.21 according to nvidia site) and this still happens For a screenshot; http://www.euronet.nl/users/seer/jpg/gc2.JPG The GPU had a temp of 60C (Geforce 7800) not sure about the CPU cores (X2 4400). for me this seems to happen at the start of a new turn right before the news pop ups.
I wouldn't worry, SD reads the forums and their service is top notch. Offcourse I wouldn't expect them to work in the weekend to solve problems but then I didn't expect them to fix a "activation" problem for me before I emailed them.. (Was a bit of a suprise when I got an email stating something like "Hello, I've noticed that you have exceeded your activation count and have reset this for you. You should not have any trouble activating GalCiv2 f
About the AI at lower levels makes mistakes. Why not implement those routines at higher settings ? Making mistakes even for a genius is normal. Difference is that a genius is more able to correct the mistake...
News flash This happened to me as well, and; Driver Version: 6.14.0010.8198 Driver Date: 12/10/2005 03:06:00 The newest drivers were just released this week and haven't had the time to install and play the game yet. Never reported it as I wasn't really bothered with it. But it's getting a bit annoying to read certain remarks when certain people want help and get sarcastic replies. Now if the person asking was an doing it in a not so nice manner..
Try to modify the prefs.ini in my documents\My Games\GalCiv2. If it doesn't work then either undo the changes or delete the prefs.ini
Hmm... Long post... About the combat and forget about defensive on your own ships. If you attack but the defending ships do have a defence against your weapons that is more then the amount of damage you can do you'll be dead the moment they fire. This may not be the case early in the game and maybe not on easier settings but it can be a problem
Can't wait for this Can't remember when I had a game that was update so frequently WITH added content to boot..
Also ive noticed since the update whenever I upgrade a ship it takes away all the components apart from the jewellery, dont know whether its supposed to do that but its a tad annoying.[/B Can't agree there, that feature is a gift from God himself IMHO
Not let you put two on In the last release you can only put one on. (At least the "capacity tab" disapears for me I think that's intentional as it doesn't disappear when adding colony or troop modules)
