Have you played Master of Magic? Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic was the closest game to a sequel to MoM but it wasn't as good. I hope StarDock's MoM clone uses the hex tiles like in AoW:SM but keeps the feel of MoM. Sammual
I have a 3 year old and not much more patience then him. Just treat me and other gamers like 3 year olds. Give us a lot of attention in small bits and we will be happy. Ignore us and we get cranky and throw temper tantrums. *Grin* Have a good Turkey day all! Sammual
My guess is that Brad has either not seen this thread or that he is getting crushed working on the TA expantion. At some point he will respond...... I just have no idea when. Sammual
Brad - Any chance we can get an update as to what is going on with the 4X fantasy game team? The last info I know of about the progress is - "Most of our game development team is working on a new fantasy strategy game with a 2009 release date; public beta next year. It’s a turn-based game with tactical combat which is also turn-based. One could describe it as part Master of Magic, part Populous and part X-Com. We’ve developed a pretty extraordinary graphics engine for it. I wish I coul
I can't wait for StarDock's not-MoM. MoM is still in my top 5 games and I am following 3 different fan re-makes ATM. After you play Shadow Magic download and play Master of Magic. Sammual
AoW:SM is a great game but it feels constrained compared to MoM (Master of Magic). Because you have less options in AoW:SM it just didn't capture the magic of MoM. Sammual
The magic system in MoM was indeed inspired by Magic: The Gathering. This is incorrect and a common misconception about Master of Magic. MoM, was released in 1994, while Magic: The Gathering was released one year earlier. However, even back in the day it still took at least 2 years for development, thus the ideas that the magic system in MoM were based o
Triumph Studios made a series called Age of Wonder. Its really the spiritual successor to MoM, and they did a good job of it. Age of Wonders 1 and 2 were spiritual successors to MoM. AoW:Shadow Magic came the closest to the MoM feeling but none of them captured the magic. The game feels much more restrictive then MoM did. <
I'm sure they will say that on these forums, while benefiting from game mags, reviewers and users calling them the successor of MOM/ MOO etc... GalCiv is not MoO. I just hope the "yet unnamed fantasy game" IS MoM2. A MoM like game would be great, I would pre-order a copy from Fraxis or Stardock in a heatbeat. MoM2 (Mo
You forgot to add Master of Magic to your list. Sammual
Master of Magic is still one of my top 10 games. I would be happy with a MoM2 that was just MoM with updated graphics, bug fixes, and re-balanced. To make MoM2 into the best game ever all you would need to do in addition to the above is add the following; 1) Hex based map / Combat map. 2) Multiplayer (Including Hotseat). 3) Modability. I think almost any other chan
