So i watched that video of the guy who got the game on youtube, and he mentioned that people who buy it at bestbuy get exclusive content. What content is he talking about? I just hate these exclusive content deals, I show my support to pre-order through stardock way before release date and I get a we're sorry you should have bought it through bestbuy instead so have a nice life missing out on exclusive content.
If you load up Impulse and use your serial # you can download the latest retail release version and it will work. That is how that person on YouTube got it to work.
The retail boxed version should work without ever seeing the internet at all right?
Beta isn't a 'game', It's beta testing to develop the game. I plan to dig into it right away, I just can't wait to play around with the building tools to see if I can remake Master of Magic!
There is no DRM but you Have to activate it the First time it runs. Its there way of protecting from retailers breaking their street date. Sorry guys. And impulse is NOT required to run it nor is anything else it just has to connect one time to activate is all. Afterwards internet is never required.
Uh I'm pretty sure there's no activation on Stardock games, If i went to Ma
Very exciting
I think it was said it's a good idea to do a clean install between the beta and full game. I'm just going to leave the beta installed until the full game is up to minimize my time without Elemental :P
I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't seem to search the right keywords to find my answer. When can we expect to get our boxes pre-ordered from this website directly in the mail for most US locations? I'm really excited to get my Elemental poster up on the wall. Also will we be notified when they ship out and possibly get a tracking number?
How long do you figure it will be before someone Mods in the Wizards from MoM into Elemental or makes "Elemental Versions" of them? I'll probably do it just for fun at some point or to give myself some cooler enemies to fight. It might even be kinda funny if someone used all the old school character pics for when you choose your Sov.
Hopefully sooner rather than later, I'd love to find whoever is working on the MoM remak
On Monday and Tuesday we’ll be on the Elemental chat channel (you can get to hit by hitting Shift-Tab once you’re in the game and going to the chat area). There we’ll be answering questions, providing suggestions and just generally hanging out to help you get the most out of the game. We look forward to seeing you!
Does that mean on Monday people who pre-ordered will have the game? I c
Could just make it like MoM where you have a tiny transportation fee. It was 20 mana to move an item from a found location to another location IIRC. My vote is for just allowing it, but if there has to be a penalty, make it small.
I've been kicking around the idea of using my status to change my University's homepage into an Elemental advertisement. I wonder how many points and how much trouble I would get in for doing such :-P
Elemental needs an OS/2 release :-) Either way releasing on Steam would be a bad move for impulse, similarly as others have stated is even in theory if it sells more on steam it'll also cut into the population that would have bought it on impulse. I'm sure Stardock gets to keep a great portion of the pie when released on their own client rather than one that belongs to others. So even if they made the same money in the end, some money would
I agree a lot with the previous post, but I would love to see Elemental have easy tools of customization to make the game as balanced (Or unbalanced) as we'd like it. I know there will be a whole segment of beta dedicated to modding, but being able to have a lot of power just within a pre-game customization options is always great to have.
Yea limited edition is just retail edition + awesome goodies. So enjoy if you bought it :-)
Boot up linux, mount windows harddrive, pure win.
How is it handled now? I'm sort of new to the forums and I only recently pre-ordered.
Yea I do prefer the way impulse does things over other services like steam and D2D. I still prefer to buy Physical media, but I guess if i absolutely had to always buy digital products, impulse would probably be the way to go.
I thought you can install stardock games just fine if you buy the physical DVDs from the store without ever touching impulse? At least I don't recall any online activation, if it does have online activation that would be lame because I always like to think "What if the internet goes away and never comes back" when I'm buying my games to make sure I don't loose access just because something silly like the internet goes away for good.
Are more people going to be let into Beta now, or do I have to wait for the multiplayer beta? Edit: Actually I'm wondering how I will get into Beta, I don't remember giving my impulse account name or logging in when I pre-ordered Elemental. I only remember it asking for my e-mail address.
With the next Beta phase being a Multiplaying test phase, I found myself wondering just how many people have Pre-ordered. I Pre-ordered elemental earlier in the week and I was wondering how easy or difficult it will be to find people to test multiplayer features during the next beta phase.
Good old Master of Magic, probably my favorite strategy game of all times. It's actually how I heard about Stardock back in 2004ish. There was a rumor of a sequal in the works by stardock. To bad it never came to be :-(. Elemental is looking like it has the potential to dethrone MoM as my favorite strategy game, let's see if it happens :-)
Are you able to try safe mode instead of just safe boot? Also I can't remember what the XP recovery disk was like, you could try that. I know once i changed some settings with Win7 which caused my PC to bluescreen on boot, I just popped in the recovery disk and it put the settings back to the way they should be. Either way there is most likely nothing wrong with the hardware, if there are no files you need to recover from the harddisk you could just reformat right away.&nb
Haha don't they know that it's fun just helping out in making the game that could be game of the year! This should be good though, I've done beta testing on some other games, and did my share of bug reporting with software in the open source community. I'll enjoy ironing out this game in the next beta phase.
Sounds good, and sounds like it'll land right after Finals :P, I'll look forward to doing lots of testing! I can't wait to be acquainted with the community surrounding this game.
As a huge fan of MoM I finally got to come across this game, and from what I've seen I simply had to pre-order. I also read there's a beta for people that pre-order, could someone tell me what I need to do? Nothing showed up on my impulse account after I pre-ordered.
