WRONG. Attacking as a fleet means you get quicker kills. They fire their weapons individually. It's ship v ship in the end, if they have 5 defence and you have 10 ships with 4 attack, you'll barely touch it. All weapons fire the same, and an unarmed DL will go down to a fleet. Then do explain why a ship with 14 hitpoints and 16 armor survived a 35 attack

Crossmr, ships fire independantly. Not as a group. Whats the point in making them a fleet? Maybe you missed how my ships were set up, they had 3 ships defense 16 each on armor. I had 4 ships, attack 35 mass driver. I attacked first. There is no reason they should have survived, let alone without a scratch. <TABLE cellpadding=8

I eventually found another thread on this that reported the same behaviour. Here we've had a patch already, and they can't fix this glaring error in the game. This is a galactic wonder, it should work properly.

I'm still astounded by people posting about the rangers. I've been playing the game for a month and have never seen one of these things. Is there some checkbox i need to hit or something? Am I the only who never gets that random event (I've also never gotten the I-League). Is it more likely on Masochist or suicidal difficulties? My first game

Can anyone explain how Galactic Privateer works, and why I'm seeing the behaviour I am? I built this and expected my trade routes to be safe as per its description. The Dread Lords backed off for about a dozen turns and stopped attacking my routes, so I thought it worked. Then suddenly they start attacking them again. Then 50 or so turns later, I notice a single Dread Lord escort following a freighter, one turn at a time, causing major hitching in the game. The game would focus on th

"take out their troop transports, which are unescorted and undefended." That was crap. only 1/2 of their troop transports were undefended, the other half travelled in a group with an "escort". I finally beat this mission, but it took in the neighbourhood of about 6 hours, here is why: 1)Allies grabbed most of the planets before I could, that was even with buying colony ships instantly. In the time it took to fly to the planets to grab them, the altarians and Thorians were alre

" so get ready properly as you have quite a few turns before they even come looking for you:" I Didn't experience "quite a few" turns before they showed up. I coudln't get a factory built on any planets before there was a battleship running around.

I do trade like mad with my allies, the problem is I can't get anything built up because they're flying around pot shotting everything before you can make much of anything. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Yeah great. How about without cheating? This whole dread lord thing seems completely broken to me. I can't do anything meaningful before they show up and lock down the systems, then a few turns later they start rolling in troop ships.

Try playing the campaign if you find it too easy. You can get sodomized but the idiotic dread lords. You think you can get star furys fast, when you do they've got 300 attack battleships with 42 hit points running all over the place.

So I won siege..by the Dengin surrendering me the planet I needed to control. Next mission, again: WTF exactly what were they thinking with making the dread lords like this? You've got star fury's and they have Battleships with 42 hp and 340 damage. This has got to be the most idiotic thing I've ever seen. I Even changed the difficult to beginner. None of your allies can do anything because they're knee-capped by the stupid "oh a planet with no ships protecting i

What is the deal with the Siege mission in the campaign? Before you have pea shooters, dread lords show up in ships with 150 missile attack, 40 beam defense, essentially requiring you to have the ability to throw together 2 groups of 5 medium ships putting out 10 damage each, and be able to sacrifice them to take down a single ship. And they show up before you're even rolling. This makes absolutely no sense. This is on normal, v1.1

You know..paying for a digital download, I'd expect some speed out of it. I normally pull down around 300k, maybe a little more, and here I am only getting 80-100k (its bouncing back and forth)for such a massive download. Is there any kind of mirroring or load balancing in place here?

once I'm rolling I have no problems out teching the computer, but in the early going even playing as the technologists with +50 research +20 or 30 Soc prod (I can't recall which) and properly watching my budget, a minor race will often build 1-3 trade goods just shortly after I've started building them (which I usually do the moment I get them) Sometimes having only 1 or maybe 2 planets they've managed to build the first 2 trade commodities in the first 12 turns (months).. seems to me s

Anyone have a giant visual tech tree anywhere that could be looked at and browsed from left to right for easy viewing maybe even printing if possible

I played my 3rd game today and won my first :) after reading a list of what social structures to build on planets I must say it was ALOT easier. those things should come with a warning. Anyway the evil drenigens or something like that got an event where all planets in a 2 sector distance got +12 to their planet rating. One of his sectors suddenly had like 2 22 PQ planets and 2 19 PQ and 1 20 PQ planet (the one he originally had in that system) I wanted to jump on it before he colo
