Although it was all a moot point since 2 troll spearmen running in circles could kill anything below magicain or wizard units.
And warships enchanted with flying and invisibility could pretty much kill anything in the game without so much as a scratch.

The AI in the original MoM release (and the first few patches) was pretty bad. In fact, it never got to be very good, and by the final patch they'd just decided to give it all sorts of bonuses in order to give it a chance. That's why the AI would have such massive armies. Sad, really - it was pretty much the only serious problem with the game. So in a nutshell, it's just cheating like crazy.
I wonder why the sov has to be immortal. Why not have his offspring be channelers who can take his place? That would avoid alot of the need for awkward explanations of many topics.
A lot of the charm of Master of Magic was that you actually were the channeler. You weren't an invisible hand guiding the empire over countless generations, like in Civ, but you were actually a person in the game. I think that added a lot, and I'm glad Elemental i
It's a larger version of iPod touch.
Yep... how revolutionary and magical! *cough* I own an iPod Touch, and I really like it, but never have I thought "Gee, I wish they'd made it BIGGER!"
am I the only one that thinks the ipad is the dumbest name ever.
Much of humanity (me included) seems to think the name is awful. The only person that doesn't seem to think so is Steve Jobs...
If bootcamp works with the iPad[/qu

While we're correcting grammar and spelling in that screenshot, it should be "tracts" of land, not "tracks" of land. ;)

Shake the tablet to cause an Earthquake spell, and listen to all the screams of your victims as you do so? :D But yeah, I can't see this happening.

Just use Boot Camp on the Mac to install Windows. It's running natively, so no emulation or anything required. Macs are just another PC hardware-wise, and can run Windows just as well as any other PC. I've never had any problems running games that way, including GalCiv2 and the Elemental beta.

Oh god, if you guys can make each city (or at least some cities) in Elemental feel special in some way, that would be a dream come true. In TBS games, the only cities I feel particularly fond of are ones built in particular terrain. Cities blocking off choke points between mountains or on an isthmus being examples. Of course, in a game like Civ, the importance of that fades as the game goes on. Wonders were, I suppose, an attempt to make cities unique. In reali
They are quests all players would be doing. You, as the human player. AI players. And NPCs.
Cool, thanks for the clarification.
Are they Quests for our Sovereign/Heroes? Are they Quests that we can offer to those adventurers?
This is what's confusing me. I'd thought quests were something we would do, but the Journal implies that it would be NPCs doing these things. But now Frogboy's latest post implies it would be us doing it. So confused... By the way, I do like the idea of us, as the sovereign, being able to offer quests for NPCs to accomplish.&n

I've been watching Elemental development from a distance so far (too busy with work). When I saw these "sausage factory" posts showing up, it worried me. Design by committee never works. It just produces a mess. I'd rather see something that's the vision of a handful of people or a single person. That's true of movies, it's true of TV shows, and it's true of software. From my own experience managing a software product, customers will <

[e digicons][/e] I don't know what to say... the succession thing and the race/sovereign customization are more than I would've ever hoped for. Sounds very cool.

Yep... would be cool to have an established rule of succession, but the ability to hand pick a successor, and then risk having that cause rift/disloyalty when the 'rightful' successor finds out he's been passed over.
AH!! Bad Gamespot! Bad! the Game of Thrones novels by late author George R. R. Martin. Don't do that to me!
Maybe it was just a commentary on the fact that he STILL hasn't released the next book!
