Well, just a Canadian here, so I can't sign the petition, but I was just in Western Australia recently, and it's an amazing place. Ningaloo was bloody awesome. I wish you good luck in stopping the crazies from doing irreparable damage to something their little pea-brains can't possibly understand.
This is going to sound very superficial, but I really wish they would change how mountains are rendered. Currently they're just amorphous blobs. Make the physical altitude of them lower, but make them jagged and snow-covered. It'll raise the polygon count a bit, but I think it would make the map look immensely better.
A better way to look at it is to not think of it as you being a caster who happens to have other, lesser casters in his service. Rather, look at yourself as something far more unique and powerful. You are a channeler, one of the few beings who can still properly channel magic. Your underlings are not channelers. The mana pool isn't global, it's your mana. Your underlings are just convenient vessels through which you can p
They may also be concerned with over-hyping it. In the years leading up to WoM they talked about a huge number of wild ideas, most of which never made it into the final game.
That said, to keep expectations realistic, you should all assume FE will suck and give you cancer.
So what you're promising is that FE will have magic powers that can alter the very nature of life itself at the molecular level. Check. Setting expectations appropriately. :)
I'd just like to say I'm glad you guys didn't decide to shut down the games division entirely. The Elemental launch may have been a pretty high profile misfire, but it would've sucked if the games division at Stardock was one of the casualties. Flawed or not, the games you guys make are virtually impossible to find from other studios these days.
This new puzzle game has been making the rounds. If you're into engineering, programming or puzzle games in general, you should give it a look. It's not for everyone, and it's a little confusing at first, but I'm really enjoying it. It's chemistry-themed, but the puzzles themselves don't require any chemistry knowledge. It's more about programming. It also shows you how efficient your solution was compared to other users, and it can automatically upload videos of
The sad truth is, regardless of who Stardock had hired, there'd still be this level of "outrage" on the forums. For every person, game or company in the industry, there's a group of people out there who apparently have nothing better to do than make their disgust known as loudly and as frequently as possible. There was some disgust voiced here when Kael was hired too. Hell hath no fury like a nerd behind an anonymous forum account.

Civ V was better than Civ IV (and please make the comparison to release Civ IV, not Civ IV with all expansions and patches). That's just my opinion, of course, but the same is true of everyone claiming that Civ V killed their children and beat their dog. Civ IV's combat was unbelievably tedious, to the point that I usually stopped playing when a large war broke out. Civ IV also added complication to every part of the game I didn't want com

Sweet zombie Jesus, this is good news!
4. If you have friends
For some reason I found that amusing. :) Anyway, sounds like lots of good stuff on the way. I'm eager to hear how you guys are reworking the magic system, but I guess I'll have to wait until your dev journal on the subject. I know one of your requirements on magic is that the AI must be able to handle it well, but I'd like to say one thing - sometimes just having some cool %@$# trumps having

Fantastic ideas! MoM did some things right, and some things wrong, but the thing it did absolutely fantastically was nodes/mana. Nodes were the "power plants" that powered your leader. The power flowing from them could was used in a variety of ways: Spell research Maintenance of enchantments Maintenance of summoned beings Increasing personal spell casting skill (how much you can cast per turn) Storing in the mana pool fo
Very nice. I hope Stardock pays attention and implements things like this in the base game. :)
Very entertaining, and I liked how parts of the dialogue rhymed (was that intentional?). It had me reading the whole thing in a Doctor Seuss style. :D
I've never been a huge fan of goodie huts, but I figured they were here to stay. Interesting to hear they've been dropped. Here are a few random ideas for abilities (though the names could use some improvement): Immolate - The caster (probably only available to some fiery supernatural things) bursts into flames. Any melee attack against them deals fire damage to the attacker. Shockwave - Emits a massive concussive wave, wit
As a Canadianite myself currently working in the US, I can tell you it's very easy. It's the easiest citizenship with which to get a work visa, though Australian is a close contender.
