I didn't have time to read through all the posts, so I am not sure if my idea is already mentioned. I think splitting XP should only be a temporary solution to the stack of doom problem. A good solution is to design skills/spells for champion and army/summon/monster to buff/help each other. The result of the buff should be champion + army > champion + champion and champion + army > army + army.

Good idea. I play on ridiculous level. The early phase of the game is tough and fun. If one champion per army, then the early game needs to be balanced a little, maybe with cheap regular units. Champion takes up 2 or 3 slots is also a good idea. We can also give a class to those champions, wizard, warrior, rogue, etc and limit what type of armor/item they can use. For example, in most RPGs, wizard gets penalty for wearing heavy armor or not able to we
