Translation: Americans are a fearful greedy lot that are easily manipulated into voting like mindless sheep. And they are led by simple minded, black and white thinking fools who just can't see how complicated (or "nuanced") the real world is. Left wingers, by contrast, are deep thinking men and women of subtlety whose message i

Since you want to read news articles about the US Economy I figured you might want to be informed that Both candidates are BAD for the US Economy. Ah, I never said I was a John Kerry fan, I am not convinced by either of them as I said in this comment on an excellent post by Faithful American -> <a href=
Mason, I have not been on much lately and it is good to hear that you are still around. Last I heard you had some sort of desk job down in Florida. how come you are driving for a living again? Pet driving peeves? Too many! How about when those people who pull out from a side street right in front of you, particularly when the road behind you is clear and if they had waited 5 seconds you wouldn't have had to slam on the brakes. Or the gu
And to Gerry- Please stop regurgitating the same liberal rhetoric that Kerry is feeding you. For the stuff on the American ecconomy I relied on a report in the newspaper ( a reputable one ) from several days back and if you can send me any data to dispute this then I will retract. As to the internat
Bush will drive up the debt and deficit but lest we forget in our hatred that Kerry will do so as well so the better alternative is not to have anyone who will drive up debt and deficit like good ol' Badnarik. But it is a race in two.
P.S. Sadly, I believe GWB will win in Nov. For some reason conservatives seem to understand how to manipulate fear and greed far better than non-conservatives. I think it is something to do with the way they present the world: black vs white, good vs evil, for us vs against us. Non conservatives see the shades of grey, but of course black and white plays a lot better on a 15 second sound bight than shades of grey which take a little longer to explain.<
I live in Australia and we have just had an election where GWB's soul mate was returned with interest. Of the two elections the US one is far more important because of the threat to the rest of the world. I see that he is back in front of the opinion polls, it boggles the mind how a guy can trash the ecconomy (just what is the current deficit?); expand the number of Americans living below the poverty line; increase the number of Americans not covered b
PS Sandy, if you own an American car you better sell it quick before the JU spies see you...a Renault or Peugeot should do you.
When GWB stood up at his State of the Union address and stated "You are either for us or against us" he was not addressing the rest of the world but the American public. You are either for GWB or against America.
Uhm, no because than you get the problems they have in Australia and other places, completely uninformed voters being forced to vote. No one is forced to vote, just to turn up and get their names marked off. But you find that if people bother to go all the way to the polling station they usually decid
voting in all democracies should be compulsory for the participants. Democracy is a privilege and a responsibility that people need to take seriously and be fined if they do not.
btw...Dragonal has already peddled something along these lines. I believe Tom Clancy has written a few formula novels based on the idea.
And like a phoenix Joe McCarthy rose from the ashes to spread his paranoia once more on a gullible and easily frightened America.
I spent around 6 years living in the UK (the last time 16 years ago) and I miss it like mad. To me places are like food...you can have a chinese meal - all dramatic taste but no substance, or it can be like a roast dinner - less dramatic in taste but deeper in flavour and satisfaction, or ultimately it can be like fine food - layers of subtle flavours that you have to work at to discover their subtleties and joy. At the moment I live in the roast
Grim, Like Draginol, the people you are talking about are the ones that you see as conservative, liberal etc. There is no doubt that some that you refer to are as you tag them, however, I belive inevitably your judgement is subjective. My original point about number of articles was about overtly partisan articles representing those peoples particular prejudices (the only reason I included this one because it was the one I commented on.)
This is excellent. Well written and straight to the heart of what is wrong not only in America but in almost every western democracy on this planet.
It is not only arrogant but paternalistic and dangerous. Why do you think America is so on the nose abroad, for exactly this reason. There is a touch of the Louis XVI's in this.
Of course you do know if America goes down so do her allies both Economically and Militarily, so hmmm... Americans, on the whole, do not give a damn about the rest of the world. This election will be won and lost on what Americans believe is best for themselves.
I will NEVER agree to that Well then get off the 'whatever is good for America is good for the world' arrogance.
He wants to say "there is no difference, what's good for america is good for the world" -- Bush did that tonight. Then the world should be able to vote in the US elections(and GWB would not want that right now.)
but I think you'll find this is no seat of conservative thought... that is crap. Here is an analysis of the current 20 front page posts in the recent articles section: PRO REPUBLICAN: 1. Thoughts About The Vice-Presidential Debate by Patriot_Flamethrower - hard right republican
Is it DEEP THOUGHT that created the human race ? But Deep Thought was only a fore-runner of the greatest computer ever built Of course, now that I think about it, perhaps
Lobo: Then you need to provide a source to that data because every study I've shown shows it much closer to nearly half our income ends up going to the government in some form (federal, state, local, property, sales tax). Now I havent read all the responses but this caught my eye...a real classic. Th
John Howard just reminds me of stupid Canadian female artists and their little songs of Irony But at least the Canadians have a little bit of integrity...not sure that word features in our dictionary...ghey kd's ok by me.
Very well said. Outsourcing out of the country has led to a subtle shift in the balance of power. The funny thing is India is not having to fight for it, the Americans are giving it away.
