Are they processor specific, or software (windows) specific? Thanks The main difference is that 64-bit allows you to use significantly more RAM. A game with pieces that can travel unlimtied distance is not a realistic strategy game Hex's superiority lies with realistic equidistance movements and engagement.

I had a feeling he didn't move to hexes because Civ V did, and Brad didn't want to follow a competitor. Hex is vastly superior in broad strategy games by all accounts. All TBS games I've played, hex always offer more strategy base on unit position, adjacency bonuses, etc.

That's why I don't like globalized digital platforms that disallows region pricing You can't expect to sell a can of pop having the same price in India with the US for example. I understand that Stardock has to charge at MRSP because of retailer relatons, but the problem is, retail channel in UK is nonexistent, and I am sure many other countries as well. If the number of retailer is few, you should offer discounts to those countries to remain price competitive. Or, open up ret

The price I quoted for Impulse and on Elemmentalgame.com are both digital downloads. The price for other games are from Amazon, which is pretty representative of other UK game retailers. Amazon UK includes DVD with free shipping. For Civillization V, Game UK sells the same price at £24.99, Steam has it more expensive at £29.99, that's still under £30 It seems that digital distribution platforms in general have n

I have been holding off my purchase of this game partly due to the state of the game, but more because of the pricing. I don't know about the US or anywhere else, it's rare of for new PC games in the UK, even for AAA titles, to charge over £30 pounds, £35 is almost unheard of. For example, Civillization V is available for pre-order at <a title="£24.99" href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Take-2-Sid-Meiers-Civilization/dp/B003ELORWE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogam

Reply to On AI in War of Magic

[quote who="UmbralAngel" reply="1" id="2773796"]I think that having to many features/options isn't a problem for a well written AI. I am writing an AI for a hybrid RTS/TBS right now and my game is fairly complex, its very similar to the layout of Elemental's combat system. The key to writing a good AI for a game where the AI behaves like a player, is to write the AI as if it is a human being, instead of a machine. Personalities, impulses, desires, strategies, all of these should be the core o

Actually I think Total War series of unit scale option is quite good. Having option is always better If you implement a squad based system, there is no technical difficulty in dynamically resizing the squad size from 1 man to 20 men, since combat system would be the same. You just scale number of units on display base on damage taken to the squad and play death animation etc.

There were RTS games like Earth 2150 which had tunnel systems underground that offers strategic options to ambush enemy base. An uncharted unknown randomly generated tile based maze filled with monsters is a nice way to open up gameplay options where armies can march underground undetected by enemy forces on ground from A to B. Tunnel entrances should be dotted around the map but may need researches to recover their locations. In addition, dungeon can offer loot

I am suprised the game does not support the concept of polygamy. Ok it doesn't fit the moral code of modern society we have now, but the world view is different in the game. As a soverign of a country, in a land devasted by disaster and low population, it should encourage bearing of offsprings and, polygamy in the old days is the way for the rich and powerful to do just that!
