They spout the old adage 'the truth shall set you free, right'? This is actually part of a verse in the Bible. I DO believe the truth will set you free, but what you're saying is that if you have no tact, the truth will never hit the mark to enable freedom. Another verse that seems to say what you're
" Perhaps that means our theories on love aren't as far apart as we thought........ " I've always suspected that, it was really tongue in cheek, I hoped it would bring a smile to your face:) Tractorman
Glad you fessed up T--Man joa
I was happy to read the second part of the post. thought maybe the next blog would be "off to the circus" Tractorman
About a year ago my wife was reading a Novel based on the Life of Hosea out of the Bible book by the same name, I think the name of the book is “redeeming love”. It is one of those novels that puts a historical story into a more contemporary context. It was thought provoking and engaging for her, and she wanted me to read it after she had, but there was a problem.
Good Job Sarah! I think it is pretty amazing that you can write an article on Love that Poetmom and I both agree on. I might differ on a couple of points, but not much, I think you've really got something there. Tractorman
Maybe i am a cynic but Tractormansavestheday is Dan's father, is this praise of Brad Wardell genuine in light of Dan's recent behaviour? Yes, it is genuine. Being Dan's father and loving him immensely does NOT mean that I condone all that he does. He is well aware of this. Tractorman
So that's my little rant for the evening. It sounds rather even handed to me. From all I've seen, you do an excellent job and at times put up with more "abuse" than you would need to. For a ranting person, I think you are pretty patient
The verse: Pr 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life, comes to mind. It is time to explore, but with boundaries. Don't give away your heart, and don't give away your body. The more removed you can stay from physical involvement, the better you will be able to get to know guys. In my dating years I ruined way to many good relationships by "just enjoying" the physical. IMO you tend to stunt the g
It amazes me, I'm serious. I've met many families, many happy families, but never once have I encountered a family like this. You guys give me hope that me future relationships won't be something to dread, but to look forward to. Thank you for that. Nice to see you Trin:) Thanks, I'm glad you hav
"believe it or not, I actually want to be a marriage and family therapist when i grow up! *walks away wondering what people will think of that*" It's a worthy goal--go for it, that's what I think. :) Tractorman
Thanks Dan.
I can't NOT love him. I've never been able to NOT love him. It is now, and always has been out of my control. There was no decision to love or to not love, love just WAS. It is wonderful that you have always felt love for your hubby. There will be a time when you do not, I believe--whether for a day or a month. At that point, what will hold you together, or is your love dependent on that uncontrolable feeling? Or are you asserting that you
I have been distressed during some blog comment interchanges the last couple of weeks. I finally decided to let it go, as people are entitled to their own view of things, but today the truth of my view hit me smack in the face again, and I feel I need to take one last stab at making my case. Nineteen years ago I married a beautiful girl with a year and a half
we went together to look at the truck in the junkyard (he wasn't able to come home after the wreck so he hadn't seen it up close and personal)...and I sat in the drivers seat and bawled whilst he held my hand. As long as we're off track......I was in a junkyard last week getting some parts for our Safari Van. Whenever I go to the "graveyard" of cars, it sends my mind on a journey to recreate what happened in these cars in the last moment
I'm glad to hear things worked out. You'd think someone would verify thier suspicions a little better before reporting. Tractorman
Wow. I feel like I just had an accident. That sounds like a REALLY traumatic event. Once again, glad to have you. Tractorman
PS. Sorry if that wasn't totally relevant to your blog. It was kind of a momentary epiphany I got while writing. Might as well share it, right? I thought it was totally relevant. Feel free to have epiphanys on my blog anytime. I also think that it's a lesson in impermanence and that we don't like to be reminded that nothing lasts forever. I kindof agree with that dharma, but at the moment or crisis and grief, I think we're t
Its funny how you look at different cultures and they approach death, some embrace it, some grieve. I believe that life is cyclical, whereas Christian's believe once someone is gone, they are gone for good! I wouldn't see it that way as a Christian, unless perhaps my defenitions are different. I see death as an entry to another part of life--sort of like going over the border. I believe that our spirit lives on, our bodies just house what th
Because we get so wrapped up in our own 'self' that we can't and don't see any further than the end of our noses. Us older (?!) folks always accuse teenagers of having delusions of invincibility, but as far as death is concerned I think we're all guilty of the same thing. I know I am. I have been made very aware in the past year of my own mortality - I had a head on collision in my jeep with a semi last fall. I should have been killed...obviously I was
I rarely read your comments and articles without smiling. Blog on. Tractorman
A friend of mine died today unexpectedly–a single car roll-over crash. How do you prepare for something like this? Here and healthy and active, then gone, and leaving a gapping hole. How could his wife or 6 children have prepared for this? Life insurance companies would suggest that their product prepares you. I don’t think so. Death is so strang
Wow. Things have gotten pretty testy here. I hate to go into my psychologizing, but in order for a "family" or a group of any kind to grow, it has to go through a conflict stage which may include disillusionment, etc. This is not a one time thing, but at times it threatens the integrity of the structure, or perhaps rips it apart. The most important thing one can do is to hang in there. It's that old committment idea again. Now I'm not suggesting
