chronologically, if your lunch was sucky, you'd have to have a second lunch, a dinner, or perhaps a linner, but you really couldn't go back and have a brunch. (unless they had one of those all day buffets) tractorman
Joan of Arc
The reason this question intrigues me is that I have noticed a deep comradery among many of the members of Joeuser. Is this unusual? I have not blogged much at all (in fact, this is my first blog post), but the dynamics of the joeuser group are.....are.....like a family it seems. Some members are very parental (both maternal and paternal), some are children (both b
wow! it's a wonder that it wasn't cold when she got it!
In my generation, I can’t believe I am using this phrase in respect to yours truly, we went to the store and bought things. We had come out of the “order from the catalog” era and having super stores, prided ourselves on the ability to have available any item our little hearts desired. As with all seasons, we have moved on. Now we shop on line and you can litera
I believe love to be a verb--and I think the clearest demonstrations of pure love are always sacrificial j-o-a
i'm with Dan on this one. To recognize the in intrinsic beauty in all of life, beyond the contempoary definition (which changes often but is somewhat cyclical since there is nothing new under the sun) is a wonderful gift fromt he Giver Himself. j-o-a
My seventeen year old son is really quite a fine young man. He hasn’t gotten into any major trouble but then, he isn’t perfect. Trouble with being were he is supposed to be when he’s supposed to be there, keeping curfew, remembering to call us to tell us where he is, are just of few of his minor besetting sins. This past weekend he went to a retreat. We ha
how does one know whats evil and what isnt. this is an excellent question because in order to define evil societally, we must agree on a standard. I think this is actually the core issue of many of the civil debates we have in our nation at this time. In celebrating our rights to individuality, we have let our personal needs take presidence over the needs of our community and so we are flying apart.
what other option is there?
The verbal rocks have been flinging back and forth from one camp to the next regarding various forms of behavior and lifestyles. Some have valid points but serve them in multiple wraps of guilt, hatred and condemnation. Others offer their ideas presenting their offerings in a civil manner. And still others have no idea, do not care and seem to be the vocal representation of foolishness.
of course LIFE!
seems like the only time I see you anymore is on Joeuser. I wonder if this has a diagnosis? tractorman
hmmm - sanity -saver --20 years-- gives you some idea of what condition I am in! j-o-a
A Liberating Realization When I got the mail today there was a letter of acceptance to kindergarten for my youngest child, Tori. It was then that I had a most wonderful and liberating realization. In just a few months a I will be at home all day long with no children for the first time in 20 years! I think part of the reason it is so significant to me is because as a teenage
With the opening of Mel Gibson’s The Passion, I was wondering, where all the Christians–followers of Christ that is-- were. I saw Jesus, a man with a purpose, submit himself to torture and a brutal death, aided by his loved ones, murdered by the religious leaders--all for --love? As far as I can see, Jesus threatened the power and position of the religious authorities and they framed him
con't from prev. tractorman......... name calling, demoralizing, shaming, condemning--remember Marvin, we were all by nature objects of wrath but God who is rich in mercy saved us even while we were still enemies. No wonder Jesus hung out with the fringe, he couldn't stand the white washed cess-pool of religious hypocrites --------enough said. joanofarc
Marvin- How sad that you feel a need to be so assaultive in your assertion of ideas. One need not use rapit fire to make a point--besides, with that tone the only ones who will listen are the choir. You claim a moral standard if you align yourself with Christ. Does your Bible read as mine "Don not let any unwholesome word come out of your mouth but only what is helpful for building OTHERS up according to THEIR needs that it may benefit th
..and take 'In God we trust' off the currenty, and reshape the legal system so it's no longer founded on Biblical do's and dont's...basically, the country would have to literally start all over. yes--a fact few want to acknowledge
We will debate the issue backwards and forwards but we won't claim to have a particular heritage Exactly! Because our heritage is politically incorrect and might actually make us accountable for or to something. You know, what is amazing is that the reason we have such a diverse nation is because of the "freedom " mentality that came as a direct result of the heritage, but those who have been raised in it and have benefited by it do not res
Two people want to express their love and devotion to each other by making a commitment via public ceremony-----what is the problem? Why won’t states allow gay men and woman to marry? The answer may be more of a can of worms than anybody really wants to admit. The problem is that if you are gay, under our current law, you could not quality for marriage any more than a girl could qualify for a bar-mitzvah. Don’t hang up on me, let me explain
