Bug Reports for 1.13

Please post bug reports here for version 1.13.

If you are asked to send a save game, I will need both the .sav file and the folder with the same name.  Zipping them usually works best.

My e-mail is [email protected].

Please give detailed explanations on how to reproduce bugs.  More information is better than less.

If people start out reading this thread, there will be less repeat bug reports, and it will be easier for everyone to read this thread.

Thanks.

Deep trouble with new patch when loading existing game. I have a game that is almost finished, and just installed 1.13. When I loaded my 'New Save Game', The game immediately awarded 3 wonders/trade goods to the AI players. At the end of the turn, it declared the game won, and that I had won a technical victory, even though I hadn't come near completing all research. When I load my Autosave, the game shows that none of my planets can build any social projects.

I'm very disappointed. You guys are better than that!

It's generally Stardock's policy as I understand it that you should finish a game before updating. Any new patch can mess up an old game.

You should always finish a game before installing an update. This has been reported with every update, I think. The updates are rarely compatible with a previous version save game. ;)

I too was immediately awarded a victory upon loading my save game. I understand the compatibility issue and usually do start a new game after a major update, but because 1.13 seemed to fix only a number of bugs I didn't anticipate a complete lack of playability of my saved games. At any rate I just thought I'd note here that I too am awarded victory (which by the way I should be no where near achieving) when I load any of my saved games.

Actual Bug:

Percursor Defenses event still has no picture

W.r.t. Minors - I'm still competing with them for early wonders and trade goods. I'm not sure if this is intended or a balancing issue. It seems that their early high quality planets (always 20+) give them an early start. I can only confirm this for Normal and below difficulties.

On the plus side the UP vote fix makes for very much happiness.

i am not sure are these are bugs but they maybe something to look into.

i was playing a game where the altarian republic was the second strongest race in the game. they suddenly gain the telenath crystal. isnt this for the weakest race in the galaxy?

the races are making some pretty dumb trades.. tehy have been or i just noticd... the altarian republic traded battleship tech for some low low level tech, whose name i can not recall. i ahve NO idea why they did that.

i still see ships scatted around the map. i think the ai would be more formidable and use less resources if they just formed one or two major fleets. or maybe three depending on the time. i hate seeing fifteen ships clouded over one planet in a sector.

will there ever be an actual design that lets people see what is necessary to gain a trade?

lastly, i remeber seeing the party logo not just on the race attribution screen but in the economic screen as well, its absent there.

it is hard to scroll the party tab, where you pick your party, with the mouse. sometimes the scrolling works other times it doesnt. this is really relaly minor.....

nonetheless. i enjoy having the up work as usual now.. wahoo... great job guys.

Has the dissapearing ships bug (often followed by CTD) been fixed with 1.13? Or is it still the micro$oft answer, that is, "must be a problem with your machine, just restart/reload/waste your own time and it will all go away"?

The invisible ship bug probably won't be fixed CariElf said they would probably have to spend a few weeks working on nothing but that bug to fix it and because of that it's not worth it and since it can be fixed by saving and reloading I would agree, they should work on other things if it would take that long. The expansion for example would probably be delayed by working on that bug.

Drengins are at war with Arceans and are still trading with each other (according to the Treaties screen). I have the saved game if you are interested.

Hyper Warp is now a prerequisite for Xeno Intimidation and Large Scale Building

Hyper Warp prerequisite for Large Scale Building?

Doesn't that mean that only races with that Good tech can build Dreadnoughts (IIRC)?
Hyper Warp can not be researched, even after completing research on its only prerequisite (Hyperspace).

This appears to be a bug.

Same experience here, I was running up the tech tree and among others Hyper Warp, Xeno Intimidation, the one that gives the trade wonder and Virus Elimination were unavailable to me. Same for techs at the end, except for final frontier (Galactic Domination et. al). I was playing as Neutral which may have affected this somewhat.

Add-on: Never saw diruptor tech (had to trade for it), nor Excalibur tech.

Mike693, WalkerintheMist,

All the techs you have mentioned are "alignment" techs, ie require specific alignments to research.

HyperWarp requires alignment of >70 IIRC. Galactic Domination requires <10. Disruptor is an evil tech (can't remember alignment threshold).

The Torians seem to surrender quite easily in every game, even if they have a large empire and fleet.

The game seems to freeze when I click on 'done' for the 'must share technologies' UP vote. The vote was for 8.

Yes, the minor races seem to be kicking my butt after the first year and a half or so. :SURPRISED:

saving and reloading I would agree

I gues you aren't getting the subsequent CTD and full reboot of machine then?

Hurley:

StarDock NEVER gave that answer for the disappearing ships bug! Shame on you! >:(

What they DID say that there would have to be a total rewrite at the core of the game, itself. Not worth fixing if all you need to do to is save and reload to get around it. Kind of like having an inoperable brain tumor. The fix just might kill the patient!

Bill, you are only partly correct. I had private correspondence with Stardock that did include some of those messages. To be more exact, it didn't include the "waste your own time" but it certainly did include the "must be a problem with your machine".

In addition another CTD that I had was never fixed and no explanation other than 'must be something on your machine" avoidance was offerred.

My polite email asking the latest status of second bug last month to cari was very much ignored.

I don't have to "save/reload" I have to save/shutdown machine/restart/reload about every 2-3 hours when playing on gigantic to not have the bug & subsequent CTD.
If you check my profile you will note a move to tiny that is very much driven by the bug.

So I would ask you be a touch more sensitive in your posts.

The UP comes up and, oh surprise, it is a vote on something other than war tax or influence bonus. Good, it's the tech sharing issue, the Drengin knows many techs while I have none to trade them. We are the only 2 empires in the UP, I choose 8 techs, the Drengin chooses 2 techs and win the vote. Well 2 is better than none but the game hangs at that point. Nothing works on the keyboard, can't alt-tab to desktop, can't ctrl-alt-delete to kill the task or reboot so I had to powerdown the computer.

I also got a complete lock-up on the tech-sharing UP vote.

I rebooted, reloaded, and didn't get the same issue in the UP, but a bit later I got my first CTD. The last thing I remember happening is the Altarians switching alignment, but OF COURSE I haven't been able to reproduce it yet.

I'm going to delete TechRevolution02.UPISSUE in Galciv/Data/UP_Issues to see if this lock-up can be avoided.

Thanks Ray.

Having always played as "good", I never realized the "neutrals" and "evils" need to buy or trade for key capital ship techs (as opposed to research).

(Guess I should start browsing the GCTech.TECH file...)

Mike,

No, it never was the case before this update. It wasn't a pre-req for Large Scale Building. Else as you said, evil races will have to go through the trouble to trade or conquer HyperWarp tech to get Dreadnought and future capital ships.

I've just checked it and it does seem that 1D Phasing has been swapped with HyperWarp as the pre-req for Xeno Intimidation and Large Scale Building.

I opened GCTech.TECH in Galciv/Data and edited the Tech_Requirement for Large Scale Building and Xeno Intimidation from "HyperWarp" to "_1DPhasing". Works properly now.

Would recommend that you back up the original file before you edit it if you choose to do as I did.
