[0980 Bug] Missing Forests & Swamps - Haaaaayelp!

Derek - looks like this build broke something regarding my forest and swamp tiles - they no longer appear in the strategic map (but are on cloth). Now, a couple of weeks ago I had the same problem when I tried to install HF's rivermod - uninstall of the mod fixed the problem. For this instance, I just did a fresh install of 0980 on a new primary drive - so the problem appears to be vanilla. Debug & save.

Derek - just bumpin' this. Tried everything, can't get the darn shrubbery to come back. I like growing things, I miss them.

I have the same problem. When I make the changes to start modding, the tress go away.

I'm a sad panda because it's happening in vanilla - started with last build, clean install.

I know the first .980.65 or whatever build had trees for me. .980.1 does not.

find the camp with a quest labeled "The Knights who say NEE!!!"  they will give you a map to find a shrubbery, as a reward they will give you the majical item "the holy hand grenade"  which may be useful fighting a deadly monster with big sharp teeth.

(sorry couldn't resist.... no idea but maybe a joke will get some attention by the admins)

I suspect that you need to redownload the latest patch and reapply it.  The first version we uploaded wouldn't overwrite local files if they have been modified (by modding, etc).  The new version will, and should fix your issue.

Thanks, Derek. Will give it a go tonight and let you know.

Derek - this is a no go. I downloaded the file "FallenEnchantress-0.980_update_setup_b" that exists on Stardock Central. When I tried to install it says software is current and I already have the most recent version "0.980.063".

[Edit] Also - debug indicates version 0.980.063.

Hmm...

Is anyone else seeing this?

Hi Derek - did a complete uninstall, deleted all files and folders, etc. Redownloaded the full version of the game, reinstalled, and the darn shrubbery is still missing. In answer to your question I know Sean mentioned he's seeing it too so I'm not crazy, or at least the only crazy.

[Edit] Also - just for the heck of it I went into the screens directory and deleted everything. I'm out of ideas to fix this. X(

Just to come clean here. I am using an ATI X1650 512MB card in a 64bit Windows 7 OS. The card is not 100% compatible but my integrated graphics card is 32MB, so I need it to play. I don't think my card is fully supported by Windows 7 and ATI stopped supporting this card, so I don't know how vital fixing my odd and rather obscene configuration will be to a successful game.

That said, I saw trees in the server version of the game and they are gone with the local data. Couldn't you just do a quick comparison of the files and see what has changed? I get no trees with the /nomultisample. I got them before changing that, as well as some other options to optimize for a shitty card like mine in a shiny new PC. You could buy the card for like 10 bucks on ebay and see what happens, but I am guessing the issue is more with the difference in the server data vs. the data we get locally. I also noticed that my local cityhub was messed up, but I will post about that in a new thread.

This is also happening with me. Happened in .980 and .981. I installed .981 on a brand new Windows install and still gives it to me. I'm running an Nvidia 260 GTX with Windows 7 64-bit.

Thank goodness, I'm not alone on an island! Downloading 0.981 right now and will see what happens.

Derek - I have the green shrubbery back in 0981, many thanks! Time to go find me some Ents.

Great. So it's just me now.

It's odd - you did a fresh install of Win 7 and experienced this. I also experienced this right after a fresh install of Win 7. Wondering if Derek and crew figured out the root cause.

Sorry, didn't mean to bail on ya, mighty selfish of me! }:)

I tried clearing files from My Documents and AppData. I've changed graphics settings from highest to lowest, including things like antialiasing and shadows. Oh well. It's not like I wanted to play the latest beta or anything.

I have this problem in 0.098. I actually didn't know there were forests/swamps in this game the first time I played (just bought it). I'll download the new version today and see if I still experience the problem.

Do you have the latest video card drivers? If you just reinstalled Windows but didn't update the drivers, that could easily cause problems.

What kind of video card do you have, Shackalakala? Juryal had a 620 GTX.

I have a 260 GTX, not a 620. I have the 306.23 GeForce drivers. They were released on the 13th of September.

I was having this problem patch before last, havn't played this one yet, doin so now

I don't understand why this worked, but I applied the latest beta patch over a clean installation of the latest full package and now I have the tree models back.

Problem persists with local data. Server data still shows trees for me. Cruel, cruel fate.  XO

When I updated to 0.981 the problem went away! Game looks beautiful now.
