elementium
So I've been playing a while - games into turn 5-600, usually up to the teens in research. Can't generate elementium. Is there something other than quest 'finds' that give it?
thanks

Nope. Only from high level notables. Unless you mod.
Does that mean FIVE THOUSAND, SIX HUNDRED? I don't think I've ever seen a number written like that.
No, im sure he means 500 to 600 turns. Note the hyphen -----
yeh 500 - 600. thanks for the replies - it does raise the question why the unit design thinks archers with legendary plate is a good idea ![]()
The game has a hard on for Archers. Every damn time I get a new tech, the game tells me I have a new archer design. Hey, good job researching hedge walls, here is a new archer!
He he, I noticed that. I think I have about 80 unit designs showing up, I only use 6 of them counting pioneers & caravans. I wish there was some way to delete the obsolete designs I don't use anymore.
Um... there is an option, it's called "retire" in the unit design.
I must've missed that in the manual ![]()
This stuff is so rare I've never actually been able to create a unit with full legendary gear. If the high-level notables would actually respawn, it might be doable, but on anything short of huge maps there just aren't enough of them to actually get enough elementium to work with. Kinda moot anyways since I'm just toying around with the AI by the time I'm actually far enough into the game to use the stuff...
Maybe that should add a high level spell that creates it; after all it had to come from somewhere originally.
I'm in my first long game of Elemental right now and i was assuming the metal would be a high level smelting technology. Sad to hear that it is not.... but the point is, my assumption does indicate a good way of introducing the metal into production in the game!
Actually, if you'd create a lvl 5 building that has an upkeep of metal and crystal and produces elementium...
Elementium. Always makes me think of something else. The material they build american trucks with. Just today in a movie I saw an empty truck (note that they run on diesel) drive off a very high cliff... and explode when crashing. Clearly american trucks are built from explodium because the fuel definitely does not do that.
Plus, whats the point of Elementium, when the armor it creates isn't even the best, or even close? Heavy Master armor is far better, and all you need for that is a bunch of iron. Would be a lot cooler if this rare element could be produced to make something really good.
Well, yeah. If it's so cool and magical it should do something beside just being better armor.
Maybe some 1x per battle magic resist buff. Earth! Fire! Air! Water! Life! Go elementium!
In a mod I work on occationally elementium will be used to create gear that grants spell-like abilities to units (such as enabling the creation of a paladin unit that can use heal). Also the Spell of Making will be altered to give elementium when it is not a victory condition.
I think one game I played I've found 4 elementium in a goodie hut. Armor that uses this stuff is useless because you can never find enough of it. It would be nice if at some point in the game (say with some research) it was made available to buy at some ridulous (but still in the ball park) price, so that maybe we could outfit at least 4 to 6 guys/troops or so with it, instead of none.
Subscribing...
Perhaps you can buy some from the Skirineen!
I could be wrong, but I believe the Legendary armour has no combat speed penalty. Granted the penalty isn't huge for a full plate suit (it's what, -0.1 for each piece? So with arms, legs, body, shield and helmet it's just -0.5, not a huge penalty), but if you had a force of heavy soldiers armed with full Legendary armour, equipped with swords, steeds, and items that increased combat speed, they would be VERY deadly.
Also, since Legendary armour comes from the magic/sorcery research trees (I believe, I may be incorrect), it would actually be easy to get that armour a lot quicker that the very high level mundane armour.
Edit:Additional: The only real use I get out of Legendary armour at the moment is buying it at the item shop and equipping my Sovereign with it. Makes him stand out a bit from the rank and file.
You are right there is no combat speed penalty. But it is at best, only half as strong as Master Heavy armor, and it is only 4 pieces and not the 5 most sets are. If you could get a good supply of it, then it would be a fine choice for armor, but the fact that it isnt clearly the best armor, and it's almost impossible to create a 12 man unit with a full set of this armor, it all adds up to being a pointless endeavor. As for HUMAN champions and Sovs, its very nice, as most pieces are only about 120 gold, but for the bigger Fallen ones, it cost 1000 gold.
Elementium certainly isnt plentium in the game
. Theres a quest that gives Enchanged Armor which has good defence, and after some research you get the option to buy Elementium Kalamazoo Sword that costs - 12000 goldozers
. Havent encountered a quest where you get the sword.. I would have sold it to get 1/4th of that gold..
There is a way to get a far better sword from the Master Quest that give 50 attack and 10 combat speed.
Au contrare. It might not be as flammable as gasoline, but diesel will explode and burn. I've even seen it happen. A few years ago, I was living in Houston and a diesel fuel tanker flipped while on I-45 which is the main north-ish/south-ish freeway through Houston, extremely busy with a lot of lanes (can't quite remember, like 6 lanes at least each way). It actually slid upside-down over the concrete divider between the northbound and southbound lanes, simultaneously ripping its tanks open and the sparks caused the diesel to ignite.
The ensuing firestorm actually cooked the concrete on the freeway, killed several teenagers driving in a car near the truck when it flipped and exploded, and the burning diesel ran off the freeway and down to a major roadway below the freeway, a river of liquid fire.
If you want to use Elementium you pretty much have to cheat. There are three quest/notable locations that give Elementium (at least that is all I could find). One gives 1 unit, another 4 units, and the last 8 units of elementium. I usually sprinkle them around randomly before I play a game. There was also an elementium mine in the map editor (last time I checked), but it didn't work. I was wondering how difficult it would be to make it work via modding...
