Thank you Stardock, this game is going the right way

Hello everyone,

I am just writing a little post just to say thanks. I bought this game on the first day and I have seen all the improvements in stability and in gameplay you have done and I finished yesterday my first game entirely (medium maps with 4 opponents) in something like 250 turns and no issues came to disturb me.

I had to say it, I think that we had to be a bit critical with the vanilla game but right now, I know for sure that you are doing a very good job for the pleasure of your customers.

I have yet some questions about the game :
- What are admin costs ?
- My son and two daughters had +1/+1 mana and health regeneration on battlefield(why ? because of my shards ? genetics ?)
- when my invocations only were fighting, I was surprised to gain level with my sovereign and her happy family (I wonder if it is or not a bug as I like the idea, part of my sovereign soul in its invocation and so you have not to risk its life on the battlefield)

One suggestion :
- Write on summon description the A/D/health value in order to chose the right spell to research

Bug (just to say it) :
- Contrary to its description, the halfling is not immune to offensive spells

Briefly I can't wait to have my hands on the 1.1 version and its global mana system but the game is already very fun. I find the game well balanced between units, invocations are maybe a bit overpowered in the beginning but at the end of the game units in groups are better (who says my invicible squad of 4 dragons something like 200HP 118A 100D Mouah ah ah)

Thank you frogboy, thank you devteam

Sincerely

A satisfied customer

ps : sorry for my bad english, still french :)

-Not sure about admin costs, I always assumed it was food/gold upkeep for various buildings though

-Your sons/daughters sometime have +X health and +X mana per combat round, unless it's changed it doesn't actually tell you anywhere just take them into battle and find out

-Your sovereign gets some percentage of the experience for all battles that you are involved in regardless of the units you use.  Can't remember the details but it was something like 5% for every inactive unit and 10% for every active unit (active meaning actually does something in battle other than pass) but I could be very wrong on the percentages

Also, glad to see another person enjoying the game and I agree with your sentiments completely

P.S. your English is better than a lot of anglophones

yes, but this game is horribly flawed. ive never played any stardock game before and im no fanboy. I just payed money expected a good strategy game. I will be patient but I sure as hell won't thank anyone for one of the worst releases i have seen in 20 years.

yes, the performance improvements have been really undervalued by most people so far. for all my ranting about game mechanics even i on my quadcore machine was struggling to get this thing running smoothly. the basic functioning of a game as an application is massively important and i'm glad this has been adressed first.

next stop game mechanics!

At the end of the day, the game still is fun, even with its current quirks.  That's huge!

Just for point of reference, 3 games quickly come to mind that shatter all boundaries when it comes to a terrible release:

1. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown for the PC.  I swear it felt like support left the building 40 minutes after it went live.  After years of enjoying the Tom Clancy series of games, I realized that UBI Soft decided to drop PC gamers hard without a second thought.  I had to take a shower after this one.

2. Soldier of Fortune 3:  Payback.  I don't even think this game ever left pre-alpha status.  Maybe that's why it was only $9.99?  Damn, lost money anyway.  What the hell was I thinking?  Oh that's right, I immensely enjoyed the first 2 games.  What a rip off.

3. Hellgate: London.  Thank god I didn't subscribe and I knew what I was getting into before picking the game up.  I found it on a shelf for like $10, a few months before they shut down - so no sweat off my ass.

This last one was released so badly that it got an urban dictionary entry.  Third definition spells it out in detail:

The Elemental release was Heaven sent compared to the above, there is just no comparison.  My opinion, of course.  I shall never forget those failures.

True, Elemental was released sub par and is not something that is hard for the community to understand, especially since we paid for the game (expecting it to be in finished working order) AND we were not watching game development/thought processes from their perspective.

But please note: The fact that Stardock is working (as we speak, you can practically hear it) very hard to resolve issues and get the game on track speaks volumes for the company AND for the community that has seen unforgivable past actions of other software developers/publishers.

Daggerfall ? huh ?

Sorry while Daggerfall had some technical hurdles it was not semi broken like so many other titles, Bethesda also supported that game in spades.

SD has and always will give excellent support for there games and even those they just publish. I love the fact that i know if i got really tired of some of these bugs i will eventually come back to find those Quashed and content added maybe a few months down the road.
