[Suggestion] Cavalry

1. Cavalry Units

These are somewhat useless.

1. The resource is so rare that in 5 games i had spawn horses once. That was one spot which gave like one horse every 3 rounds or so. Not nearly enough to create a cavalry based army (like the Mongols had etc.)

2. The bonus to combat speed basically just makes it a slightly better infantry unit. In most cases it cant even move further. (3 speed vs 4 speed still gives you only 2 tiles to move)

Suggestion:

- Make horses/wargs spawn more often, have a building (stable? ;)) that increases production.

- either separate combat speed from movement speed in tactical battle, or decrease the cost for moving mounted units to 1 point per tile. This will give Cavalry the movement it should really have.

- Adjust auto resolve to actually simulate the battle, because just like archers are now useless in auto resolve the increased movement of cavalry will be.

2. Mounts for Champions

Suggestion:

- Make them only available in the store if a source can be found in friendly kingdoms.

1. Mounts generate 1 per turn not every 3 turns. ( As of 1.06, Have yet to find a mount tile in my 1.07 game)

2. I agree +1 Attack should also be added. (I modded this in until they are improved)

Your Sugestions:

- I agree, a grooming/capturing/breeding building should be able to increase the rate you gather wargs & Horses.

-  This is because when they changed how action points work they didnt rebalance the mounts. But as the combat speed and move are no doubt getting an overhaul this point is moot. So yes mounts should have more action points.

- This is an A.I issue, i agree it should actully simulate the battle and we should have the option to watch it. My guess is that this feature relies on a good A.I system which is currently not in place. With better A.I we might get an actual battle simuation which will solve alot of other issues people have with auto resolve.

3. This is too restrictive, unless horses get a major buff then this is just an a pain but does sit more with the logic of your armys not haveing mounts until tiles are found. Unless...

MY Suggestions:

-Horse and Warg Tiles are coded to spawn at atleast 3 locations each per map. 3 warg 3 Horse minimum, or better yet add a slider to the options.

Or

-Have a tech that spawns mount tiles to relfect the land becoming greener/darker as your influence grows and attracting mounts to gather in tiles.

- A.I shoul build mounts, i've never seen other sovs,npcs or units on mounts even if they have the ability to make them. They just have them for trade...

- ...Why are these very rare mounts only worth 1 gilder each? Whenever i don't find a mount tile, rival factions are happy to supply me with 40 mounts for 40 gilder!

- More mounts, Why can't i ride the exsisting creatures in the game? Spiders, Shills and Dragons etc (I tried to mod it but i can't get it to work :'( )

- New creatures to mount, Giant snakes, Rhinos, Elephants, Hypo-Griffs, Griffins ETC. We need more variety and things to make factions seem unique.

 

Thanks for taking the time to read my post, The above suggestions would increase the fun factor alot so please consider them.

It's a post-apocalyptic Mad Max scenario so it actually makes sense that you'd be lucky to find any herd of horses.

Humans are more... adaptible.

The pricing and in-game use are questionable all right but "cavalry" doesn't have a real gameplay implementation anyway. Horse bowmen, heavy cavalry charging... there is no real point to or no implementation for that.

That doesnt explain why a mounted unit is as fast as a foot unit ;). And besides post-apocalyptic i can give you screenshots of monsters spawning like crazy. If horses are so rare let me ride shrills!!

Yeah I have barely seen horses as well...

 

I would love to see more done with horses, it was pretty cool when you got your first horse an gave it to your main dude.
