Don't look if you want to maintain your illusion of Elemental having a vast array of unique and interesting spells. =P

So that's it eh? I'm sure this will get addressed. It just has to. Magic is a pretty big part of the game and this is...lame at best.

82 spells in total, huh?

I don't mind the limited number of spells as much as everybody gets the same spellbook. Research one special tech, and you have all spellbooks.

Nice. k1

But the reality is even more grim in the sense that most tactical spells have multiple version (fire one, water one etc..) and the same with strategic ones (different elementals are pretty much the same, very generic).

Ok,

This thing just made me fell off my chair.

The spell of making costs... 20 Mana to cast... :( :O :S

What? This is completely ridiculous. Again, taking MOM as a reference I think the Spell of Mastery was more than 1000 mana points to cast and could take very long to cast if you didnt' spend enough points in your casting skill. (skill that determined how much mana/turn you could expend to cast spells)

I'm floored.

Spell of making takes as much mana as 4 Chain Lightning...

Anybody else things this is utter madness!?

I have a thread discussion on mana, spells and the casting system.

Go have a look if you are interested:

I still can't get back on chair...

Elemental, in general, does not seem to make much use of things like status effects and damage types. The sorts of things that allows you to differentiate spells from eachother, and make combat a bit more interesting.

The problem is they don't allow for multiturn casting so you have to have all that mana available at once which considering the current system of levelling is a feat for your channeler although often ridiculously easy for your children.

That is a bit of a sparse list, eh? :)

Some status effects, either as passives from elemental damage (fireball leads to chance of ongoing fire damage for example) or as the direct thrust of the spell would go a long way to removing the baseline uniformity of all tactical spells.

The difficult of casting the Spell of Making is researching it, not casting it. just so you know.

Remember 20 mana still requires either a child that has high mana, or you needed to have level'd your Sov 3 times and level'd up Essence each time.

Nice work.  Can you add the level as well?  Having an idea when you can get them would be useful.
