[Suggestion] Don't wait on animations

This was one of the very few things that annoyed me in Civ4, and it's ten times worse in Elemental due to tactical battles. If I've given a unit its orders, don't make me wait for its animation to finish playing before letting me select the next unit. This is making tactical battles drag on for far longer than they need to.

Definitely.  I had my sovereign wielding a bow on a worg and for some reason the worg/bow animation took a few seconds to complete.  Very annoying, especially when they have two attacks.

So far this is my biggest gripe with Elemental...

MoM had a "quick animations" option for tactical battles.

I suggest an option to skip x % of ALL animations in tactical battles.

The same would apply to bullet flight speed.

 

This is made especially annoying because magic users regen mana extremely slowly and if you Auto Resolve the outcome of 6 major golems and elementals vs 1 wolf, the sovereign in that army always expends 3 of the very scarce mana points. That mana would be spent faaaaar more wisely on expensive unit summons or city enchantments...

So alas, there is no way to use Auto Resolve with important casters in the army. =/

I agree, and I would suggest two options. The first option would be to increase animation speeds so that the unit still moves around but does so much quicker (e.g. double animation speed). The second option would be to skip animations entirely and just have the units warp to tiles, and when casting a spell, you only get the effect on the enemy unit (e.g. the champion no longer raises their arms for lightning bolt, but instead you just see the lightning land on the enemy).

Indeed. I've run into the problem where the turn wont end unless I literally watch the animations proceed on screen. Where is that switch when you need it?

I have occasionally seen the animations be instant, but it seems like a bug.

I would also suggest that there is an option for allied unit animations and enemy unit animations, because ideally I would like my animations to be instantaneous and the enemy animations to be 2x speed.

i decided not to play this game anymore unless they implement an option to turn off animations.  SOOOOOOooooOOoOOOOOo tedious!  1.08 better address this!

Please give us a way to speed up the animations; those archers leisurely nocking and firing their bows are the worst, especially sense they do it twice!

The worst is the hero on horseback attacking in melee. 6 second of non-animation (at least, not noticable at default zoom levels) after the counterattack. 

There are many reasons not to send champions into melee combat; this for me is the main one.

our at least make auto resolve not use mana.  or both.  both would be great.

Was going to suggest this.  Nothing like having an army of 5 archers and having to wait spend 10 secs per unit to get them to fight...
