HotFix for 1.05 posted

For those who stayed up late.

We put up v1.05.016 in the early hours of the morning.

Fixes:

- We finally found and killed a battle engine related crash that we think was the cause of virtually all end of turn related crashes.

- Archers and units with special abilities can perform actions as long as they have action points available. This will likely be altered in a future update but there is the issue of some equipment lowering the combat speed of units enough to where they wouldn't be able to use their weapon. 

- We increased the default combat speed from 1 to 2. This has had a positive impact on tactical battles.

- Fixed a couple of misleading tooltips.

- We have temporarily disabled the empire faction portion of the Faction creation mod tool since it was creating Imperial factions with invalid tech trees.

Very nice.... only it seems only some of us got it...

Im in the "didn't get it"... thus i complain and wonder:

1. Is something wrong with my impulse?

2. How exactly do u distribute the updates? so some get it before others...

Any chance of fixing the reset-all-game-settings-after-patch thing?

No rush on it, just annoying to have to change graphics and sound settings after every patch.

Just load up Impulse, and there should be a v1.05 of Elemental available. The precise version of the latest version is 1.05.016 (that's the hot fix).

I had to right-click the game's name and then select "Refresh". After this, the update was available for download. It probably checks periodically, but the "Refresh" option forces a check.

Ok, you have to hover over the bar at the bottom.  Not exactly intuitive.  I know you got the image at the top, but I didn't make the connection.

 

Maybe red text that at the top so people aren't left wondering like I was.  ^_^

 

Hopefully this works and the rest of your team can mill around in PJs and watch the Price is right and soaps today.

You don't have to. I'm just telling you how would find the exact version number if you wanted to know for sure.

Just hit refresh on Impulse and it will always show the latest/greatest.

Ah.  That would have worked, if I had DL'ed 1.05 already.  I passed out last night before you got the patch out.   I saw the 1.05 and thought I hadn't gotten the latest patch.

 

This also explains why I was having DL troubles getting 1.05 this morning, you were updating when i was trying to get it.  I didn't expect you to stay up all night.  Thanks for giving up your sleep again, but you gotta get some eventually.

I just downloaded it. I noticed the changes did not affect the campaign. I also tried starting a new campaign to make sure and the unit designer still has 1 Combat Speed for the default. Also the cost changes in the original 1.05 patch did not affect the campaign.

definitely up on impulse now (in case anyone is wondering since most people say "didn't get it").  I just posted a 1.05 crash report, hopefully this resolves my problem (although I can get 100-200 turns in before it dies)  :)

How cleverly disguised! (The refresh button) So that simpletons like me wont get it!

I now declare impulse as user unfriendly!

Sure its sexier then steam... but do we really need all of that glamor when simple things are hidden from simple people like me?

There should be a huge red button saind "UPDATEL NOW FOO!"

Especially after the game itself basically kicked me out to impulse...with the promise of new candy!

Only to get the blank stare of mr Impulse "What candy?! No candy for you!"

And i know he has candy somewhere!!!!

This update has done wonders!

I'm still getting some slow down, but on my map with all it's got going on, that doesn't even remotely surprise me!

I think I should design a smaller version but still in my style.. with tons of minor nations and what not.. using what I learned.. 

 

Could be quite interesting.

Well excuse me but I DO NOT HAVE 1.05.016 on impulse. Only old 1.05. I restarted Impulse, refreshed and still nothing. HELP!

 

Also does 1.05.016 fixes CTD? Right now after 10 turns I have lot of CTD. Am unable to play at all....

You didn't have to do that :P I already posted a work around. It was a matter of fixing one line in the XML from Empire_Tech_Tree to Trog_Tech_Tree and then the techs worked fine.

Impulse will only show v1.05, but if you hover over the version number, it will display a tooltip with the full version number.

I'd say if anything for me, performance in tactical battles is slightly worse now then 1.01.  Was having some sluggishness that I didn't have before.

Still tolerable though.

 

Otherwise more improvement.  Keep up the good work.

Managed to play 1.5 hours without crashing.

I couldn't get past the barrier. I restarted the campaign after this update, and what happened? This time the camp to them critters I was to kill (after the docks) didn't "spawn" so I couldn't continue!

Sheeesh...common guys! This is the VERY beginning, and we can't play!

Verga, Magnar and Karavox havel only 1 combat speed by default. 

Is that right specification?

Doh, I deleted my saves thinking they might be corrupt. But in a good note it worked out this time. Hopefully the matter is over.
