Day 0 Patch, When? Dev ETA?

Day 0 Patch, When? Dev ETA?

Ok, its day 0, I realize I can play it now, but I would much rather play the real version with all the fixes. Can we get a dev ETA at least? Its nearly 4PM est. its almost going to be a Day1 patch.

No...I downloaded the game on the morning of the 24th.  I'm in the eastern U.S., same as y'all, so same time zone.  I pre-ordered after the beta was closed (only a day or two ago).  Or are you saying that version 1.01 is somehow a pre-release version?
End of raskolnik's quote

Yes, it is, only just, but it is. The 0-day patch should have been live from the start (of the 24th), but because Stardock were kind they worked hard to get a version out to pre-order customers (I pre-ordered it on Saturday and was playing on Sunday :D) due to the fact that retailers had broken the street date. As such, the 0-day patch was delayed a little. I'm personally more than willing to thank them for their hard work than to berate them for not having the 0-day patch online at the start of the 24th (they still have a fair bit of the 24th to get it live in too).

I feel like I must be playing a different pre-release than everyone else.  I've had some weird issues in tactical battle with the mouse being aligned improperly and clicking not being registered sometimes, but I haven't seen much other problems besides that in terms of stability/fluid gameplay

Same here.  Except for performance problems (that are almost entirely solved by using the cloth map mode), I've been enjoying the game.

ok look and read:

The official day 0 update that the team and I have been working on since Beta 4 (the beta group can go into more detail on this but in brief: After beta 4, the game tree was split in two. One version went on to be the gold version which is what those people who have it early are playing. The other tree went on to become day 0.  These two trees were merged today already and will be going up tomorrow.

Now I understand. I hope this 0 day game version will be OK..... lets pray, he he

No, the 1.01 version is not the day 0 patch.  The day 0 patch is not yet live, but should be soon.

I just wanted to say Thanks to all the stardock peeps for their hard work.  I never expected any patches so quickly, but one even before the release day and then one on release day is simply awesome.   You guys really deserve some time off....

No, that was last night's patch.

So is this 1.01 version is a 0 day patched?
End of quote

1.01 is NOT the Day-0 update (and yes, the Day-0 update should fix the one crash that accounts for the majority of crashes reported in the last 24 hours).

I think the releasing early to betas is helping the game a lot.  You just gotta hope this build doesn't have anything gamebreaking it- for I'm sure the team needs a day or five off to recharge their batteries.

That is a BIG relief. Sorry for my post where I wrote some hurs words about this game. I was not aware of this 2 versions.

Ok - we are waitin for this patch. When can we expect this? Today?

My main gripe is that they released an unfinished product on the day they said the game was coming out.  If it wasn't ready, it shouldn't be on Impulse as the final product.  Period.  They themselves have admitted that what was released to the manufacturer was not ready ... why else would a 0-day patch be necessary?  This is sadly endemic to the games industry these days: release it broken and patch it later.

Now, that being said, I agree that it's very cool of them to put out what they had early because some retail stores broke street date.  I just wish it had been clearer that that's what's going on.  They also should've made it clear that what is on Impulse right now is not the final release.  All this stuff about "delivery time," after the fact, is too late (especially because it's been inaccurate so far...it's 5:40pm EST as I type this and no patch in sight).

I would rather they have delayed the game a day or two until it's ready than release something that was not.  Don't say it's coming out on the 24th, put out a version number greater than 1, and then complain when people expect a finished product.

To be clear, I don't regret buying this (at least not yet).  I just regret expecting a finished, playable experience on release day.  At this point I'm going to wait for the final product to come out (which hasn't happened yet, apparently) and come back to it.

I've never seen Stardock employees complaining about us expecting a finished product.

The implication from the posts by Stardock in this thread is that I should've known I was playing a pre-release version.  On launch day.

Except there are emails in my inbox saying that it has been "released" and the "Preorder" button in the top-right has been changed to "Purchase". And I'm playing a game MORE advanced than what was released on CD. I do not think distributors would consider a game that people pay for to get a CD with pretty stuff on it, a manual, a cloth map, etc, would consider the game to be "pre-release".

It certainly has been "released". It's just not "as released" as it should have been. Not all releases are equal, I guess?

Then don't play it until the 25th.  Problem solved.

That's like saying you can buy this car today, but we will bring the tires by day after tomorrow!  The OP makes a valid point, it is very bad form to sell any product that doesn't work when you get it home.  It is a very reasonable expectation, espically for someone who may have just saw it in the store and thought "this looks cool, I'm going to buy it and try it out!"

It's hard to win and keep loyal customers, but very easy to lose them.

Everybody loves the first day of a new game release.

If nobody played on the first day, nobody would complain about stuff that breaks and then it wouldn't be fixed until the day after.... So cry away I say.  But be aware that problems are going to exist.

Today is release day and they were clear on what was going on and they did say that Sunday wasn't the release day. I think you should read the past threads from earlier this week before you make posts like this. I hope this helps.

They were not clear in the slightest.  It was available for download on the day they said the final product would come out.  What does Sunday have to do with anything?  I didn't download it on Sunday.  I downloaded it on Tuesday, August 24th, the day they said it was coming out.  I don't know how much clearer I can be about this.  I also don't check every forum for a game that hasn't come out yet just in case the company is going to lie about when the real release date is.

Also I have to point out how funny it is that you're okay with them releasing the game 2 days later but you're upset the patch is "late" when they said it would be this evening.

Anyway I think it is not good idea to sell inclomplete product. As you see many people (including me) did not have idea about pre release version. And when they pay for such a version and see so many bugs they are mad.

You really have no idea how this works.

The gold version went to the manufacturer to burn the CDs and wrap the boxes at the beginning of August so that everything could be ready and to the retail stores on time. Of course there's going to be a release day patch, they have kept working on the code for all that time.

Release day in the retail sector usually means the day the product gets shipped to them, usually arriving on trucks late in the afternoon and going on the shelves the next day (at the earliest).

Regardless, to delay the game a few days as you suggest just isn't possible. A decision to delay or not had to be made back in late July and it could not have been for just a few days. Retail slots are booked many months in advance and if you miss your slot you have to book another. With the busy fall and christmas season coming, the next available slot according to the Devs was in February.

I for one am thankful that a six month delay was not needed and that the devs plan to continue supporting and patching their game for many many months to come to make it even better.
