No Random Map (was: "This is horrible!")

No Random Map (was: "This is horrible!")

What is the point of a fantasy strategy game with a heavy portion of exploring and adventuring when there are evidently no random maps?

It took me only 4 tries to get a duplicate map. Same shape, same position of the woods, the mountains and even the starting locations (these were shuffled around, though). Even if the resources are randomized, this is definitely not what I call a randomized map!

I have to admit, I am a very astonished. The most important thing you need for a replayable strategy game... and you leave it out. if I had known this, I never, ever would have bought the game. It may not be easy to implement, but other companies did it succesfully, so please change it to truly random maps. After all, you said that you wanted people to play this game in 10 years from now, and this is not going to happen without them.

LOL.  Everyone just ignores the posted workaround/fix and picks up a torch.

Sorry,...but after claiming that the 'just patch it in later' attitude is wrecking the industry,...and saying that they will delay until its ready,...and then releasing with it NOT ready,...and saying they will patch it in later...................................... do you not see the problem...............its called being lied to.

Claiming the game has random maps in the features,......when it most clearly DOES NOT have random maps...................again its called being lied to.

Sorry,I dont consider being lied to as something I should relax about.  Its that 'relax' attitude that has lead to games being released halfway finished,................but they said they will fix it so 'relax'.................. if I had a dollar for every game I bought that I heard that, but it was never lived up to I would have quite a bit of cash.

EDIT- Just to add I have full confidence Stardock will live up to their claims,...................but this is a serious blow to their reputation in my opinion. they are starting to show signs of going down that dark path that most other developers have gone down,---  releasing before a key feature is ready,....lieing about the games features..etc,........... and it will be a real shame if they continue down that path.

There IS no workaround/fix. If you took even one look at one (or several) of those truly randomly generated maps you would know that they aren't any good at all.

@rune: Please provide a link to where they say that they work on fixing/implementing random maps. All I have seen are posts by Frogboy repeatedly claiming that "Maps. Are. Random." and others saying "the community will surely make some maps". Nowhere have I seen any acknowledgment that this is a serious lack and that it will be implemented anytime soon. Feel free to prove otherwise. I'm not here because I love to complain, I'm here to get random maps (and a playable rest of the game), so I would be very happy if you could show me such a link.

I have removed the seeded maps and have generated quite a few playable maps.  One of about 10 were not playable.

I haven't personally tried it because, quite frankly, I don't care.  However, have you actually seen if the maps are random with respect to resources and starting locations?  Because I'd be interested to here your take on how you were lied to if the maps are indeed random and yet somehow aren't at the same time.  Of course, assuming that the maps are random you can certainly feel entitled to believe otherwise, but going into the "I've been lied" to stage really kind of actually requires you've been lied too.  Good luck proving that in such a case.
