Elemental: Game Play Example – Part 4

I've been playing Gal Civ II like crazy just to tide me over.

One thing I do wonder though, and maybe you could answer? Did you guys have an outside party do your 3D work for the races in GalCiv and GalCiv 2? Because it seems that they were a little bit more sophisticated looking even back in.. was it 2001? Not that it matters that much, I was just curious.

One critical note though. This 4th installment is way too short! This won't get us through the weekend all the way till Mondaymorning.

I thought release was the 24th?? but is it monday the 23rd instead? Thats the exact day I start school...  Lovely

No.  The difference is the races in GalCiv II were pre-rendered movies. In Elemental, they're rendered in real-time and the art style is illustrated not "realistic".

Sundayevening/Mondaymorning release is only for betatesters.

Hey Brad, in the last installment you said that time passes in Elemental however you imagine it to. I noticed that it said "age 0" on the card for sandra when she was born, so how many turns did it take here to grow up + become a unit? (and what age would that be?) This also begs the question, do people get old and die in elemental, like Roland's wife, since she isn't a channeler?

One question: did you guys ever implement numpad keys for movement?  

Which one is it going to be.  Sunday evening would be perfect.  Friday evening even better, but that ain't happening.

It takes 100 turns for the kid to mature and become a usable unit at "18". But this isn't a measure of how much time passes per turn, since the process is just artificial. There's no other reference to aging in the game that I know of. You can play two thousand turns and the kid won't die from old age

I never had a child inherit Essence,  Am I missing something or was that not done in .98C?

I just gave my eldest daughter all the books (and potions)  I found and cast Imbue Champion on her.

That and a couple of minor elementals and she became the scourer of spawning forests zones.

Frog Inquiry:  So did your daughter become a unit under the control of Umber?  If so, what happens if they declare war on you?

I read forums alot, but never really reply to them.  But I have to say, I just found out about this game about a week ago (thank god otherwise the wait would have been torture), and it is like somebody dove into the depths of my brain to make a game just for me.  I've never been this excited for a game.

I think you Stardock guys should include embroidered Elemental hemroid rings along with the limited edition set because a lot of asses are going to be sore after this comes out from being glued to the computer.

I think my wife is going to divorce me, and I am blaming you.

My understanding is that the game will be released "early" for anybody who preordered a digital copy direct from Stardock.  I could, of course, be mistaken.

I just found out i need to work a 7d/12h shift.

So i cant play the game until next friday, so feel free to hold back on the release.

No im joking, i still need to work but ill just need wait a bit longer.

Ill keep a eye on youtube for any videos from ather players.

finally..i guess waiting that last month wasn't so bad..

does anybody else notice elemental NOT appearing anywhere in the 'My Games' section of Impulse? I don't want the beta anyway, but I hope it isn't some sort of screw up that will stop me from downloading the game on release day, I've already pre-ordered and paid for it a month ago. now that I changed to a different computer, I don't see elemental anywhere on my account as if I never bought it.
