[Beta 3]Silly behavior when placing city with soreign nearby

In the following saved game...

http://www.users.on.net/~vladesch/Elemental/test01.EleSav

I gave the sovreign and a pioneer together in a stack. If I move them to 1 SW of the ogre camp and found a city, it then tells me that my sovreign has escaped badly wounded.

[edit] my previous analysis of the problem was wrong, See my post below for a correct analysis of the problem.

Firstly, is there any need to mvove the sovreign. Cant it just appear in the newly founded city, and not move.
End of quote

This is what I've been saying for a while now. This is exactly the expected and intuitive behaviour. Moving the sovereign raises the possibility of all sorts of unforeseen problems, for little actual gain.

I do not think your problem is ogre related.

This happens every time, you found a city with a group containing you sovereign and a pioneer. The pioneer isn't consumed but the sovereign is brought close to death.

Nice glitch when scouting with this group, you just can go around founding cities without consuming pioneers, you just to rest in the created town with your sovereign afterwards.. however it is indeed an exploit.

Can you confirm that you have the combat animation with the ogre and the combat summary afterwards? otherwise what I said above is what id happening.

Hmm, I still have the save game, so let me check...

Yes it is in fact very buggy.

here's what I noticed...

I moved my sovreign/pioneer 2 stack into an area of open ground with nothing nearby.

If I had my pioneer selected, the create city button was grayed out, and mouseover would tell me im too close to another city (which I wasnt, nearest city was at least 15 big squares away)

If I selected my sovreign, it let me do create city, however I did get the message that my sovreign had been damaged and retreated to the nearest city (which was the city i just built)

Having done that though, I still had my pioneer, which should have been eaten up to found the city.

It is not a good glitch, a pioneer surviving can't possibly be better than the 1 essence you lose when you are defeated in battle and teleport back to town.

This is fixed internally.
