From quicklook before bed:

I like unit design (weapons and all wow)

I like the research

I like the levelling how green color shows all the raised stats

I also like the way the zoom works, how it zooms in toward the curser that is..

Its really too early.  I like a lot of the concepts and potential, but it's not really *likeable* as a playable game at this point.  Which is precisely the way they said it would be. They were up front about this.

I like the direction a lot of things seem headed, but it'll be a while before we get a build I can really tell about.  For instance, I hate the way the game looks, but they said we would at this point.  I like the concept and the *potential* of unit design, but it's far too shallow right now for me to say I *like* it.  If the final game comes with unit design that still isnt about much more than assigning a simple attack, defense, and HP stat, I'll be disappointed.  But Im sure more is coming.

This build is more about just seeing if it will even run on your system and work at the most basic level.  Which already appears is going to be a daunting task.

Yeah, I figured that they really wanted to know mostly about CTDs, BSODs, memory leaks, stability stuff.  Once the gameplay skeleton goes in then the real work on mechanic balancing and all that jazz can really start.

As for what I like... well, I like the fact that Elemental installed and worked (except for that whole alt-tabbing thing) on my gaming rig, my laptop, and my mom's 5 year old computer!

I really love the music.

I love that I'm not having nearly as many problems with crashes and stuff as other people so far :p

I somewhat doubt they'll be depressed by bug reports. That is the point of a beta. You know your software isn't ready to go so you have it tested.

good music

music change kingdom/empire is a nice touch

the research system is shaping up to be very good and deep

i like the feel of cloth map

to be able to see the improvements from a lvl clearly (green numbers) is very good

i actually -gasp- was having a bit of fun with the game!!

Haha  Thanks SnailTrippin for trying to keep our spirits up :)   This beefy list of issues was more than expected, but we certainly love to hear what people do like about the beta ;)

Put it this way: if all the rough parts are ironed out, I could see myself playing on only the cloth map and still really enjoying this game (although I wouldn't pay fifty bucks for it, it would make a nice twenty dollar indie game ;) )

Given that was Frogboy's explicit goal, I think the developers are doing okay.

People are being pretty civil. I was kinda expecting to say "Oh gawd why isnt this working?!? u suck!" Submitted my first crash report today, am learning quite a bit about betas. Can't wait to find more bugs to report.

I like the map, music, zoom, and what graphics we have thus far.

Designable units worked great in MOO and Galciv, makes sense to use them here too! That's pretty unique for a land based 4x game.

The Elemental community is very civilized and dare I say, respectful and intelligent.  This is light years away from the Heroes of Newerth beta DotArds.  That place is like living in the internet version of the stone age.

Yes.  I like it here.  There is a synergy between development and community that is hard to find these days.

I guess the fantasy-TBS type of game attracts that audience. You have to be more patient than DotA or CS-type games so in general the people here are a bit older/more mature :)

I definitely like the goofy descriptions for the factions :p Plus the city names printed on the map looks very cool. :D

I like the cloth map. My only complaint with it is that EVERYTHING is flat. If the "colored bits" were raised (or indented), it would be very cool--- and very INFORMATIVE. Can we get some embordery on our cloth map? (wink)

I have managed to have fun with Beta1, so far. What can I say? I love discovery, and I have patience for games--- when I know I should have patience with a game.

Well, MoM and Alpha Centauri had them. MoM's Heroes (and you could customize your general units using magic), and all units in AC. Allowed players to build units/armies to fit their desired play style.

I love the music, the funny comment at the splash screen when the game first loads, and the cloth map graphics are great.

i like the way research is presented, its simple and branches out well, I like in the unit screen the little icons on the right representing your equipement you can see at a glance your equipement and it looks cool imo

i definately like the music. i like the atmosphere (i can already feel it). i like the forests and the swamps. i can only imagine how much i'll like the full game :erk:

I like the random map generation.  It does a good job of generating a nice "real" feeling to the world, with mountain ranges, forests, lakes and plains all mixed together in a realistic way.  Don't see that too often.

I've said it elsewhere, but I really like the map, when you've explored a bit and see a little bit of stuff and zoom out, pretty.

What i like the most, at this moment, are unit figurines. They look great

Cloth map needs a bit of work, because it feels so empty...

I like how in its current broken state, we still have nice things like controlled units easily stacking with one another and also being able to separate without a mess of clicking.  Lots of other little touches I like, but that stands out.

I think that is partly because it would normally only be used when you are zoomed out, whereupon it would be nowhere near so empty-looking.

I like the way the model on  the unit customization screen reacts to new equipment, like almost dropping the sword, etc when you change his equipment. I also like the cloth map, I hope they leave it as an option in final.
