Okay, here's what you do for this game: You have to "ban" the person who posted above you for an outrageous, silly, or funny reason. Got it?

Banned for thinking its an app.

Quoting ezeltje299, reply 38622my laptop is so awesome i can change my standard GPU for everything within 10 mouseclicks

I think you probably mean the integrated GPU (aka on-board) from Intel. You got a Z68 board with LucidLogic's Virtu in use?

That would explain how you can change from the Intel integrated graphics to your discrete video card, but if not, then you probably mean 2 graphics cards (sli, crossfire), which is...lame. Why would you enable only 1 of the 2 video cards? Doesnt make sense if thats the case.

i got 1 intel and 1 nvidia card in my laptop. but since my PC fails to swtich between em when starting things i have putted the nvidia as started for programs(exept internet and other low graphic things). and i can change it all by

right clicking any .exe > then clicking on what videocard i specificly want to use > then option select standard videocard > click on list of available videocards in the new window > nvidia/intel card > apply.

and then im done...6 steps from changing standard videocard.

From your posts I figured you're probably not a tech-savvy user (no offense), so 1 Intel and 1 Nvidia card means pretty much what I told you. You got an Intel proccessor with integrated GPU on board, and a Z68 motherboard (most probably), and thats why you are able to use both the integrated (Intel) and the discrete (Nvida) GPU, depending on your settings and preferences.

So, here's how it is:

Intel released these "new" processors, second gen Core i3, i5, and i7 (you have one of those), and fitted them with new improved integrated graphics chips, and released something called "Quick Sync". Quick Sync, is basically the integrated GPU doing fast video transcoding (decode and encode), and allowing for much faster transcoding than what the CPU and GPU can do. Its a technology meant to hit Nvidia and AMD, because up until recently, discrete graphics cards offered the fasted video transcoding available in the market.

Basically, what you want ideally, is to use your discrete video card (Nvidia), for everything, since its just plain better than the integrated (Intel) GPU, except for 1 thing: Video transcoding. There should be somewhere in your computer, something called LucidLogic Virtu, which basically lets you set the default video card used for everything, unless you specifically set it to use the Intel GPU for something in particular.

TL;DR If you have video editing/decoding/encoding programs, use the Intel card. For everything else use Nvidia, its a million times better, no matter which Nvidia chip you've got.

Banned for making Bink files.

Is it for the DS mod? (have no idea about SOASE, so dont make fun of me lol. it might not even use Bink Videos)

Banned for I forget to look at what games people play.

Yeah, decoded some of their videos so I can get some materials and an idea of what I want to put in place of them. Two of the animations will be easy peasy. One will take time, so it's gets shoved behind all other 2-D work.

And yes, for videos they use Bink. For 2-D they use a mix of alpha channeled tga files and dds. The 3-D files thrown my way were obj, mesh, etc files. Not sure if that's the native format. Fairly sure not.

What program do you use for Bink video transcoding?

I have RAD video tools installed, but I think its only for playback, not sure about it though.

I have the same. No, you can encode or decode with it. The play button is immediately to the right of the file name, but if you select a file and hit 'convert a file' down below, you can set up the file destination and format for conversion. There's also sound and batching options. You have to play with it a bit.
