come fiddle with my riddle ?

come fiddle with my riddle ?

http://www.loserturdmafia.com/

i have the strength of sixty men, i'm over ten feet tall
i'm footed, though i never move, it's said that i can fall

in grand ballrooms i can be seen holding up affairs
and i can bring the house down if i crack up near the stairs

... what am i ?

if you know the solution to this riddle, please make me very happy by posting it :) ... but if you do post the answer, you must post the next riddle to be guessed by the next successful person, and so on. or so i hope.

course, the whole thing could get ignored, too. how embarrasing that would be. hehe. oh, well ... the risks one will take in order to achieve linguistic banter these days apparently know no bounds !!!. somebody guess, dammit ;)

ooh - my immediate thought was tent (pitch a tent - you're under it and you dont get wet cause it has a roof - the zip on the front is called a fly),

this is a good guess, trina. i was hoping you'd come back to your 'favourite thread' !

I'm going for "Roof", although I'm not sure how the second line fits. Perhaps in the context of jumping off the roof. Anyway, for 1), roof above you = dry.

need i say it ?. citahellion, you got it !. the second line is comparing the motion of falling with flying, as in you cannot travel though air if you have something solid beneath you. so, you're actually right. i will stump you if it's the last thing i do !. ps: you're fabulous !

(and I'm still hoping for feedback on my explanation of the previous riddle!)

and you shall have it, my puzzling friend !

If you say "Why the heck would you add the $5 the clerk kept to the $30 the guys paid?" then you are showing good sense. Adding what someone kept (a credit) to what someone paid (a debit) is wrong. One has to be subtracted from the other.

it's clear when YOU write it, but i have to admit it never sunk in until i saw your explanation, citahellion hehe

Crusaders - you're right the answer IS teeth

indeed you are right, crusaders !. i love that one !

This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it?

trina, i read it once, and i had no clue. then i saw this:

trina_p, what is laid out in your post is known as a lipogram. This class of inscription is a form that avoids a common glyph, such as that fifth symbol (that lists post-'D'). It is difficult to do such a thing, as this post can avow.

citahellion, i think i have a crush on you now hehe

Indeed I will fiddle with your riddle....

crusaders, please feel free to post or answer more !

Voiceless it cries,
Wingless flutters,
Toothless bites,
Mouthless mutters.

okay crusaders, i'm going for 'the heart'. am i right ?

Gaze at this sentence for just about sixty seconds and then explain what makes it quite different from the average sentence. Quick! What is it?

waaaah trina, i'm dumb !. i have to wait for my knight in shining vocabulary (aka citahellion) to come and save me

okay, here is a new one:

though i'm often you, you are never me
and i'm sometimes what you used to be
though i can tell tales, i can never talk
and i take you places you cannot walk

... what am i ?

trina, does it contain every letter in the alphabet ? is that it ?

Mig - it DOES contain every single letter of the alphabet

and citahellion didn't actually get that first one correct (if I could even understand what the heck he said) It's much simpler then ...that

This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it? It looks so plain you would think nothing was wrong with it! In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out! Try to do so without any coaching

Give me an x, I'll stand to face you.
Give me a cross, I'll turn my back on you.
What am I?

yay trina ! i got something right !. i feel a bit better now

and citahellion didn't actually get that first one correct (if I could even understand what the heck he said) It's much simpler then ...that

citahellion will have to explain it, trina. i am lost there !. but i will keep trying it.

and i'll work on your other riddle this afternoon (gotta go buy a birdcage - long story hehe)

also, did you see the new one:

though i'm often you, you are never me
and i'm sometimes what you used to be
though i can tell tales, i can never talk
and i take you places you cannot walk

... so, what am i ?

My prior post which had information about a 'lipogram' was itself a lipogram, as is this post and also trina_p's original post: it avoids using that fifth symbol of our alpha glyphs.
... In other words, It didn't have the letter 'E' anywhere in it.
So now I'm triple-posting, which is bad since I don't have an answer to mig's most recent riddle, but since I did answer trina_p's riddle (correctly, I might add, if a bit verbosely and perhaps trying to show off a little too much ) I thought I should post a new riddle myself.

Here's one I just made up:

For my first you must take one less than strange,
then sometimes a vowel should be arranged.
At last, a children's doctor with the back moved to the fore
gives a man who took ten years to find his way back to his door.

Right - you're way too clever for your own good Citahellion -- but you got it right. - Of course

citahellion, will you please arrange to clone yourself ?

yay !. finally i pose a riddle you can't answer, citahellion. but i have a feeling my 'triumph' will be very short lived !

i'm going to go and work on this now

Right - you're way too clever for your own good Citahellion -- but you got it right. - Of course

Well, for Unsolved #1, I'm going to go with "Wind." (Yes, I've read "The Hobbit".)

Gotta work some more on the other two....

Thanks for explaining about the page numbers, Mignuna, I feel like a real git right now....now I have to go apologise at a few other blogs!!!!

Voiceless it cries,
Wingless flutters,
Toothless bites,
Mouthless mutters.

Would you like the answer to this one?

though i'm often you, you are never me
and i'm sometimes what you used to be
though i can tell tales, i can never talk
and i take you places you cannot walk

Is this a photo?
Citahellion said wind - is he right? If he's wrong say so but don't give us the correct answer yet.

Photo - that's better than imagination -- what's the answer Mig??

Do we have two solved riddles out of four?
Yeah, I like "Photo" as an answer, even if it's wrong.

Trina, for a hint on mine, you don't want "strange" itself but a synonym.
synonym - as in something that means the same as strange - like odd or weird?

gee my grammar rules memory is bad
Well done, Citahellion...Wind it is!!

I don't know if you've done this one yet..and it's probablly really easy ....but here goes...

This thing all things devours
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers
Gnaws iron, bites steel
grinds hard stones to meal
Slays king, ruins town
and beats high mountain down.
Trina, that's correct; a word that has essentially the same meaning.

Crusaders, as I said, I did read "The Hobbit", and since that one in particular is a high point of the "Riddles in the Dark" chapter, I haven't forgotten it. I'll let someone else have first go at it, though.

Citahellion,

Hee Hee......It was conveniently sitting there on my bookshelf right in front of me when I came across Mignunas blog.......
No point in using any of ther others now is there??!!
